Hailing from a branch of the family that settled in Dublin, the actor Brefni O'Rorke, (son of Frederick O'Rorke) studied acting under the tutelage of his mother, the actress Jane 0' Rorke (nee Morgan), in the early 1900's. O'Rorke Made his professional stage debut in 1912 in John Bull's Other Island, at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin. After nine years on the Irish stage O'Rorke made his London debut in 1921 in Mr.Malatestra. O'Rorke made numerous film appearances from 1918 until his death in 1946, including 'Wings and the Woman' (1942), 'Waltz Time' (1946) and 'Don't Take It To Heart' (released 1948). O'Rorke was a prominent player in the the London acting world, skillfully training his step-son Cyril Cusack into a successful acting career, one of O'Rorke's last roles was with James Mason in the noire classic, The Upturned Glass. |
