From Constance L. Hays: I wanted to let your members know about my book about Coca-Cola (The Real Thing : Truth and Power at the Coca-Cola Company)  that is being published by Random House and will be in bookstores on Feb. 3, 2004. The book discusses the history of Coca-Cola with particular attention paid to the bottlers. There is a chapter on New Coke that focuses on the nostalgia for old Coke memorabilia, among other things, which I thought might be interesting to collectors. An image of the book is currently on Amazon.com as well as barnesandnoble.com. (The most thorough reviews are on Barnes and Noble, but the lower price is at Amazon)  Many thanks, Constance.

From me, the Fizz in my life...

Another week has passed and here I am again... I have been working on updating the Show listing on the FOHBC website, partly due to the response I've gotten from last week's comments about local clubs.  The ones listed are by region, and are Clubs who are members of the FOHBC.  I would like to have a full list of ALL local clubs - so again - I ask for your help.  Take a moment to go see if your club is listed >>HERE<< - if not - please send me the info. If so, and the info needs changed/updated, please let me know that also.

Do remember the EXPO in Memphis in August. It will be here before we know it.

LAST NOTE: If anyone has an upcoming show and would like to place PSBCA (and or FOHBC) brochures on your table, DO let me know also.  All help is greatly appreciated(It is my goal to increase the PSBCA membership significantly this year, 2004.)

Until next time, Happy Holidays and Happy Collecting!

FYI : Glazed Pork Chops with Diet Lemon Coke, anyone?

The 21st Century for chefs has arrived. Coca-Cola is tempting America's taste buds and interest in more flavorful foods with new recipes featuring a wide variety of the company's products as key ingredients. These beverage ingredients range from regular and diet soft drinks to juices and lemonades.

The new recipes were created for the company by The Culinary Institute of America. “With more home cooks experimenting in the kitchen, we asked The Culinary Institute of America to explore the flavors our wide array of beverages can bring to cooking,” said Donna Shields, M.S., R.D., manager of health and nutrition strategic communications at Coca-Cola. “These new recipes demonstrate how beverages can be incorporated into every-day recipes to deliver contemporary, big flavors, with moderate calories in mind.”

The nineteen recipes created by The Culinary Institute of America for The Coca-Cola Company feature appetizers, breakfast foods, dishes for dinner, beverages and desserts.

The recipes include Lemony-Honey Glazed Pork Chops, made with Diet Lemon Coke; Oven-baked Chicken Wings with Sweet & Tangy Mustard Sauce made with Barq's Root Beer; and Light Lime Cheesecake created with Minute Maid Lemonade. They also include more modern favorites, such as Baked Nachos with Braised Chicken, Peppers and Onions, made with diet Coke; Lemonade-Yogurt-Granola Breakfast Parfait which uses Minute Maid Light Lemonade; and Mango Passion Sorbet, made with Odwalla Mango Tango Juice and Minute Maid Premium Orange Passion Juice Blend.
