I'd like to step down from Moderating the Future of Trek forum. I've taken on some added responsibilities in real life and besides that, am not really that interested in the dialogue in that forum in the first place. Having moderated there for quite some time now, I'd suggest either Dayton3 (I know, I know......but I do think he would make a good mod in that forum) or RoJoHen as both are senoir members who are active in the forum and mature enough to moderate it. This isn't pressing and I'll continue to moderate until a replacement is found, though I won't complain if that's soon. Thanks. ------------------ "If toast always lands butter-side down, and cats always land on their feet, what happen if you strap toast on the back of a cat and drop it? " "Is 'tired old cliche' one?" Just as long as you're not leaving us altogether, label. I have serious reservations about adding D3 to the staff. RoJo maybe. ------------------ "My point is not that everything is bad, but that everything is dangerous . . . so my position leads not to apathy but to a hyper- and pessimistic activism." - Foucault

Dayton3 ?? *cough, splutter* - he can't be moderate about anything. Heaven help any poster who isn't white, hetrosexual and fits his little white picket fence narrow minded ideal.Ok, maybe I shouldn't have said that - but some of his recent TNZ threads are deplorable and there is no way in hell I want to see him moderate anything. Thanks for letting us know Label. Who else posts in that forum regularly ?

Well, I was looking for a more diplomatic way of saying that. But you're right, better to be blunt. quote: originally posted by Barcode: Ok, maybe I shouldn't have said that - but some of his recent TNZ threads are deplorable and there is no way in hell I want to see him moderate anything.
Thank You. On behalf of the staff, thank you. On behalf of the members, thank you. On behalf of all Trekkers everywhere, thank you. On behalf of the human race, thank you. Did I remember to say thanks? And it's not just that he's a bigot. It's that he's an idiot too. One of the reasons we promote people is that they make intelligent posts. I've found many of D3's posts amusing and interesting in a crane-your-neck-looking-at-the-car-wreck kind of way. But I don't recall a single intelligent thing he's ever said. Besides, half the stuff he posts is designed to illicit a negative reaction. He likes stirring the shit. He's done it when he's ventured into ENT. And that's not such a bad thing, but it's not exactly Mod type behavior. I may think that I'm better and smarter than the rest of the membership here, but I don't advertise it in such a blatant and unintentionally ironic way either. ------------------ "My point is not that everything is bad, but that everything is dangerous . . . so my position leads not to apathy but to a hyper- and pessimistic activism." - Foucault

About D3, that's cool. I know his personal views on many issues are alarmingly narrow-minded/short-sighted and in many cases smack of outright prejudice and bigotry. Now, about half the time, especially lately, I think he's just fishing for trouble, intentionally stirring up the pot to see what happens. While I still think he could moderate a small forum like that, I respect that people have a personal problem with him. As for who else? Nobody regularly posts there and is mod material IMO, aside from Temis who rejects are offers. Perhaps looking outside of Future of Trek to just quality individuals? federationpolicyadvisor perhaps.... Admiraldave.... Worf999 I'm sure most of you are more in touch with the Trek crowd than I so I'll leave it at that.

I could go to Temis and beg and grovel. Personally what I'd like to see for that forum is someone who has the time and inclination to take a very active interest in it and facilitate discussion. I do not mean any disrespect to label for this because I know you are very busy with TNZ and RL stuff, dood...it's just something I think we should be aware of when we select a new mod. As far as specific names, I think Dayton3 is prolly a no. I like the ideas of Rojojen, and I will have to think about others. I haven't been posting around in any of the Trek forums lately because I've worked something like 700 hours at my RL job in the last week, but I should have a lot of spare time to do so over the weekend *knock on wood*

I think RoJo would make a great addition to the moderating staff.

Sounds like mod type behavior to me. quote: Originally posted by label: federationpolicyadvisor perhaps.... Admiraldave.... Worf999
Well, I've thought of Worf999 before as well. I think I withheld recommendation because I'd seen him make some inflamatory posts. But when I think back I'm not sure about that. The other two sound like distinct possibilities. ------------------ "My point is not that everything is bad, but that everything is dangerous . . . so my position leads not to apathy but to a hyper- and pessimistic activism." - Foucault

I like Admiral Dave. Dunno why. He represents the architypal good natured trek interested poster we want to attract. And he's got Dave in his username.

Well, Admiraldave has been pretty high up on my list for quite some time now....the other one I've been impressed with lately is that federationpolicy guy....he usually has some pretty mature, intelligent perspectives. ------------------ "If toast always lands butter-side down, and cats always land on their feet, what happen if you strap toast on the back of a cat and drop it? Yes, and Dave = inherently good. You wanna explain that one, Lisa. Do you have a honey named Dave or something? ------------------ "My point is not that everything is bad, but that everything is dangerous . . . so my position leads not to apathy but to a hyper- and pessimistic activism." - Foucault
