Hello and greetings to all of Sixfourtwofive! Please tell us who shall be answering this interview, your position in the band and tell us who are the current members?
BASTARDO: Ave! I am Bastardo and I spew hate and blasphemy. I’ll just have to tell you the last known line-up of the band, Deathkvrm and Datu Raguk on Axe, Edven on Bass and Udo on Drums
Why this odd name for a black metal band, what does this numbers mean?
BASTARDO: No historical value or whatsoever, 6425 simply means our passion and attachment to play extreme and unconventional musick.
Tell us the history of the band, when & how did it all started, who are the original members and how did the current members come to join?
BASTARDO: Around ?6 Deathkvrm and I founded 6425, then Udo joined us to do the drums and after that members come and go…as some of them are weak and gutless, so we decided to have some session musicians instead of having a permanent one, it is so hard to maintain a member with different interest but the three of us (Deathkvrm, Udo and myself) still and will forever be the flame and stronghold of 6425.
Is Black Metal your first choice of music to play when you started? Why did you get attracted to this kind of music? Would you mention some bands who has influenced you in your craft?
BASTARDO: We evolved...during our early years we played some grunge and heavy metal stuff, after that we slowly exposed ourselves to some U.G bands and eventually embracing it, we are fascinated by the way these BM bands express there ideology, belief and purpose through unconventional musick. How passionate they are in dealing with their craft. We are influenced by those elite individuals and bands that are in the same line of passion and mindset as we are.
Your "Deorum" demo is out since 2003. Is this your first demo? Who & when did the lyrics & music got created? Did you find it easy to record this demo?
BASTARDO: Actually it is our first EP under D.S.R and its not that easy recording this one, it took us 7 months and we have encountered so many problems and torture while recording this EP.
What is the relationship of Deadstring Records to Sixfourtwofive? Are you officially signed to them? Are they a full pledge u.g label there or they release some other styles of music?
BASTARDO: Deathkvrm is the owner and founder of D.S.R so as you can see we are like the first warriors under the banner of D.S.R and yes it is a U.G label that promotes only U.G musick.
Doesn't Deadstring Records have contact, like a distributor or other zinester, in the capital? Have you been in Manila, if you have a chance to play there, would you play?
BASTARDO: I think yes D.S.R does have contacts/distributor there in manila. Yes I have been in manila but unfortunately I wasn’t able to check some of the gigs there but I’ve seen some U.G bands coming from manila perform here in Iloilo (D.S.R once produced a gig “Pissed Off and Ready to Kill?that showcase different bands from different areas). We will be honored and grateful to play some gigs in manila.
My Ilongo friend here has told me that when he was in College there, there are some who are already active in doing live gigs, especially near or in the U.P. area there. But he says, mostly folk & rock. He also says that there are labels there who released some tape of local bands although singing in Ilongo. But he is not sure if it is the same now, is it? How well does the labels & people there support the music scene, either the extreme u/g or not?
BASTARDO: Yes, he’s right…there’s this label that produced some folk rock music and some Ilonggo folk rock bands doing live gigs and during those times they have quite a few supporters and “fan base?who watched during gigs. But unfortunately they don’t exist now but some of them still play in special occasions.
So do you guys play a lot gigs there? Are they places to play & get drunk? How are the attitudes of the metal hordes there, especially on gigs, do they fight each other?
BASTARDO: As of now we haven’t played on a single gig here since each of us is busy with our personal life. There are places and venues here for gigs, and yes some of them do fight during gigs.
How about places to buy & trade metal stuff, are there metal shops to choose from? Are there a lot of bootlegs & pirated cds & dvds there too? How about fanzines, I haven't got to contact any fanzine maker there, how many do you know exist there?
BASTARDO: Not exactly metal shop but it’s a Chinese owned RTW store and they sell metal shirts coming from Thailand and about those pirated stuff…yes we do have them too just like in manila. We also have people here who write and make fanzines, D.S.R released 2 issues of their own fanzine called SIRUM and I just don’t know bout the other fanzines here if they are still active.
And of course, bands, as of now, you guys is the only band I know from there, are there still plenty? Is there a variety of bands there who plays the different styles of metal?
BASTARDO: We have all kinds of music genres here…name it from Alternative to Punk to mainstream Death metal and mostly Nu-metal acts.
Do bands support each other? Or is it like in the Capital where bands have their own circle of friends dissing each other & doing the gigs like a fucking competetion? What is your general view of the metal scene there?
BASTARDO: Yes, I think bands here support each other but there’s always these “new kids on the block?who likes to create and think something dense and stupid and I’d like to think that there’s a “Metal?scene here.
Is it OK to walk around there in metal armour? Do normal people there give much notice other people's looks, you know, if you walk around with chains, spikes, offensive shirts, etc, does this invite trouble?
BASTARDO: It is normal here to wear chains, offensive shirts etc and yes I think sometimes it invites trouble but I think more people tend to make it a trend/fashion instead of passion.
Do you practice the principle behind this music? Would you say that Black Metal should be left to those who are truly into the Black Arts & not for those who are only into the music?
BASTARDO: Yes I do, for me Black Metal without ideology is weak and outrageous, but I can’t deny the fact that some of BM nowadays is only for musick and just loves it. You can express and infuse more hatred and nihilistic view if you play it with purpose. Absolute negativity and abhorrence in your -immersed in goat semen- pious face.
Do you think that people from Christian countries has more right to do or say against the Christian belief? How do you relate your BM to your culture?
BASTARDO: No, everyone has the right to know and be free from these half-truths, false hope and nonsense rubbish this Christian belief been infecting us for a very long time.
Who is the child on the demo cover? He was supposed to be a tianak? Our culture is very rich in supernatural myths which varies per province. Do you think they are mere myths with no sense of truth?
BASTARDO: Hehehehe you are the first one to ask us about our album cover, he is this kid (he’s only 8 yrs. Old) in our house, one time Deathkvrm and I had this drinking bout and he was amused by this kid antics so we decided to put him on the cover of our EP. No he is not a “tianak?he is an image of our selves ?Godly, nefarious and unyielding. Our culture is indeed full of myths and supernatural beliefs and I don’t discount the idea of some supernatural myths or their existence yet I try to be as rational as possible in dealing with them.
So what is the most famous supernatural creature there in your province? Have you experienced really weird & scary shit there? If not, would you want to?
BASTARDO: The Aswang and Kapre are the two most famous supernatural creatures here. No I haven’t experienced weird stuff and scary shit lately But I like to see a Kapre and definitely I’ll ask him what brand of cigar he prefer to smoke and if he “experiments?with other substance as well…hehehehe.
Are you guys planning to do another demo? What are you guys working on now? By the way, how old are the members, do you work or still in Colleges or Universities? Do you find more time dealing with the band?
BASTARDO: Yes we do have plans in doing another album but not now, we have to settle and battle some personal demons. Maybe in the future expect more intense and profane material from us. We are of legal age and trying to survive life by hunting for job vacancies and other money making stuff.
Thanks for sending your music! To those who want it, who are they going to contact, you guys or Deadstring Records? How much is it if ordered from the Philippines & if ordered from abroad? Do you have other merchandise, like shirts or other stuff?
BASTARDO: no problem, to those who want to have our EP you can write and email us through sixfourtwofive@yahoo.com, for prices and other information try to visit D.S.R website ?www.deadstringrecords.cjb.net. Sad to say we don’t have other merchandise yet but we are planning to make some shirts of our band soon.
OK, this is the end of the interview, and before you say your last words, tell us, if you would be given a chance to know your time of death & how you will die, would you take that chance? And if you would be given a choice on your way of perishment, how do you want to leave this earth?
BASTARDO: Our sincere and deepest gratitude to you Mr. Sierra and Trendcrusher for this interview, thank you very much. And if given a chance to know the time of my passing and the way I’ll die…it will be my pleasure to know the conclusion of my journey from life to decay, and If I have to choose my way of death I want it to be painless yet dreadful and nobody will benefit with my body parts and other vital organs…and I want them to incinerate my remains, it is only mine and for no one else to use, you motherfuckers!
