From ITALIA comes Delirium X Tremens.. DXT for short! Mix your Techno-death,
slabs of Thrash & Melodic Death with lyrical hate against Technology that floods
our lives! Here is the interview! Since their logo is in
green I made all their answers in green! All
the photos here are taken from their website! Clik on their logo to see their
site!!! Now read on!!!
Death Metal Greetings to all of DELIRIUM X TREMENS! How is every body? How
did DXT celebrate the New Year? Any one suffered from hallucination due to
drunkenness?
We are really well, thank you! In this period we are very
busy working on the new songs. For New Eve’s celebration we drunk a lot, we had
too many hallucinations…
Current line up is: Alberto on vocals, Matteo on bass, Lorenzo on guitar, Fabio
on guitar & Thomas on drums. Who usually deal with zines or doing the mails for
the band? So who shall be answering this interview?
It is Alberto who makes this kind of work. This time is me
(Pondro) answering you. ( I assume Pondro is a nickname as there is no
Pondor in the line up, eh???-Roy)
DXT is started as "DELIRIUM TREMENS" in late 1998. Who among the members now is
part of the original line up? How was the new members found, through advert &
auditions?
The only original members of the band are Alberto and I.
Luckily, after a long search we have found Lorenzo and Fabio, two great guitar
players and finally Thomas, the drummer, joined us after the recording of the
demo.
It is
mentioned in your bio that the name change sets a new era for the band. Is this
because you have totally changed your style & become more dedicated to spread
your music? What is the main driving force of DXT now?
Yes, we changed our monicker when we realized that a new
period of our life was about to begin and that music was becoming more and more
important in our lives. Our life is dedicated to DXT, every day we dedicate much
time to the band.
How about your MCD "CYBERHUMAN", this was released in 2003. Is this your first
release as DXT? How many of this 'Cyberhuman' has been created & spread out?
Yes CyberHuman was our first discographic experience. We
print 500 copies and at the moment we are searching for a little label that want
to reprint it because there's only a few of copies.
Again, it is mentioned in your bio that "cyberhuman" is a "concept project about
the alienation of men" and the "flattening of taste & ideals", and this is all
due to technology that we have now & what we will have in the future? This is
the as saying we are loosing our humanity to technology?
Yes, that’s it! We are losing our ability communicate and
to be ourselves because of the globalisation: technology is an amplifying factor
of this problem.
Still, we can't deny that technology has given as good things like the internet
& e-mails, do you agree? What do you think is the best technology can offer &
the worst that it could bring about?
I agree with you. When we talk about technology we usually
refer to the “evil” side of it. Anyway Internet is a good mean but you don’t
have to become its slave: in that case it could be quite alienating . I believe
that its main quality is the way it can make our activities easier, even it is
also extremely easy to become addicted to it.
Do you agree on what the hackers & virus makers do, creating havoc & anarchy in
the cyber space?
No, I believe that order and laws should rule both real
and virtual world.
Since the concept of Cyberhuman is allegorical, there is more or another story
behind the music & the lyrics.. so, please tell us more by dismantling the
tracks...
a) Tell us the underlying story behind 1000 Wolves & its technological
connection?
1000 wolves is about those people who behave like
wolves when they are in a band and show their cowardice when they are alone.
b) Science.. is this the science of our own destruction?
Science is about those men who try to manipulate Nature
and don’t realize that it is out of control.
c) Delirium 9991, although instrumental, what is the concept behind it? Is
there a specific emotion that you want the listener to visualize or feel? Does
the number 9991 has a meaning to you?
It was Alberto who wrote that piece and it represents
strong emotions of his but I cannot describe them to you, sorry.
d) ...Inside me, is this like a medical possession? Or parasitical?
…inside me is about a serial killer and his
remorse after his deeds
e) Last.. the "CYBERHUMAN"...this term initially will give a person the view of
hybrid of Human & Machine. What exactly is DXT's CYBERHUMAN?
All the people who follow trends and don’t have a
personality on their own are Cyberhumans for us.
By the
looking at your photos I can say you guys have a varied musical taste as you
sport shirts of bands in different genres of metal. What is the common
ground where you stand when it comes to metal? Your common influences?
Our influences are rooted in Polish and Tampa death Metal.
Beside this we all have personal musical tastes and their melting form our
sound.
Have you ever argued about other member's musical likings? How about personal
stuff, does it affect the band? How do you deal with it?
We rarely argue about musical liking, we have learned to
accept each other’s point of view. Personal stuff is not a problem either: we
are quite reserved people and prefer to keep our private life for ourselves.
Are all members live in Belluno? Can you describe Belluno, is it a busy city, a
town or what? Are there lots of clubs who support metal shows? How about the
horde, are there lots of metal heads there?
We all live in Belluno, a quiet place that generally
doesn’t offer much from a musical point of view. There are many metalheads but
there are few places where you can listen to metal live performances.
In your website, in the pics section, was the pictures named 'Transylvania'
taken from a gig in Tranylvania, Romania or just a club named Transylvania?
In Italy you can find a chain of clubs with that name:
they have been designed by horror movie extraordinaire Dario Argento.
How many gigs have you played so far as DXT? What is the craziest gig ever that
you experienced? How many people can clubs there usually accommodates?
We have played about 30 gigs since Cyberhuman came out.
Undoubtedly the best was the one at Transilvania Live in Civitanova where people
actually banged their heads with our songs. Usually our gigs are pretty crowded.
Do you play on mixed gigs? You know, with some non-metal or at least punk bands?
Do you go to gigs even if DXT are not in the gig play list?
Yes, we played in festivals where bands played quite
different styles of music: it was funny but it allowed people who listen to
other music genres to come across some ass kicking death metal. We like to
listen to the other bands’ gigs.
Who made your Logo? How about the symbol representing DXT? Do you pay someone to
make your website or somebody in the band is doing it?
Our logo has been created by Alberto following his tastes
and inspiration. At the moment it is our guitarist, Fabio, who develops our
website. However the site is going to change its aspect.
Almost all metal heads I know do drink, so do all of you enjoy beer or whiskey?
What is the common drink there in Italy or in your place? What is the best &
strongest Italian drink?
We like beer very much but here in Northern Italy we
usually drink grappa, a drink distilled by vines: it’s very strong and it is
particularly good in winter, when it’s cold. It’s the best drink in the world!
Who is the heaviest drinker in the band? When was the last time you got wasted?
I hope nobody drinks before rehearsals or gigs?
I don’t
know who is the best drinker among us..! The last time one of us got drunk is
about two days ago… However, we never drink before performing! What happens
after the gig is another kettle of fish…!
Before we get all delirium about drinks, How was the year 2004 for DXT? How will
you attack the 2005?
2004 was a great year: we played in so many places and
knew a lot of interesting people. 2005 has started with a great gig at
Underground Winter Festival in Vicenza and things are going even better, as we
have planned to
record our first full length!
Will there be an official DXT T-shirt? Any other merchandise or gigs in the near
future?
No t-shirts, not now, at least: we will wait after the
recording of the full length to print t-shirts and to develop merchandising. We
have already scheduled some gigs in our county and we are planning some other,
more important ones.
Thanks to all of DXT! More power & spill more of your technological hate here...
