The Soccer Queen

The Soccer Queen

Back To The Watchers Connection

Story by: Lucilla Phoenix Reporter

In Taylortucky High School we have as many good athletes as the NHL has of African American players. In other words, many of us have very little, if any, talent in sports. Probably because most of the school smokes crack, but that’s a different story.

So as you would have guessed, all of our sports teams kinda…umm…let me think of a nice way to put it…suck. It’s true, I should know, me being on the soccer team. Soccer’s alright I guess, my mom forced me into a sport, so I picked soccer. Not a very good sport to pick if you hate running (which I do hate), but then again, what sport doesn’t have running in it? That’s why I wish chess was considered a sport. *sigh* But let’s get to the point of this story…

Jenni Smithson, my friend, is also on the all-losing soccer team. Jenni is a decent person, but she has a huge ego problem. She thinks she’s better than everyone on the team because she’s been playing soccer since she was 7 years-old. But let me tell ya, she’s not that good. She knows the game, but she just doesn’t know how to do it very well. All she does is criticize everyone. “Lucilla, you’re a bench warmer.” Sure I might be a bench warmer, but at least I’m not stupid like her.

Sorry, but I just can’t help but to complain. So, of course, I had to complain to the biggest big-mouth in all the school, and also a member of the team about Jenni (which was a big mistake). So, I told this girl, Kaleigh Buttersworth (no relation to Mrs. Buttersworth, the syrup woman *evil laugh*), but, anyway, I told Kaleigh about Jenni’s “soccer attitude.” So of course Kaleigh has to tell Jenni that both me and Kaleigh are sick of the way she’s acting.

So it all comes back to me, poor innocent Lucilla. Jenni confronted me about it the next day, and of course I denied saying anything. What am I supposed to do? Later I talked to Kaleigh, telling her to keep her mouth shut next time. So, today there is another soccer game, and who would’ve thought, I’m starting, as a defense player. And guess who’s gonna be sitting on the bench, Jenni Smithson. *evil laugh*

So now me and my friends Melinda, have a nickname for Jenni, “The Soccer Queen.” Because she thinks she’s the best at everything, especially soccer.
