ABBOTT, ARMSTEAD: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Private, 4th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division) Age: 24.  His enlistment data is not of record. Apparently joined regiment from Co I, 6th Missouri Infantry Regiment, for he has a record with that organization. Appears on a list of parolees surrendered at Shreveport, LA 7 Jun 1865, as Private, Co E.  Residence: Bollinger County.

ABERNATHY, HENDERSON: Age: 21. Enlisted as Private in Co D 17 Aug 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Transferred to Co A 3 Oct 1862.  Shown in Co B Dec. 1862.  Deserted on scout 26 Dec 1862.  Buried at Hager Cemetery, Bollinger County, MO.

ABERNATHY, JAMES MONROE: Age: 20.  Enlisted as Private in Co D 22 Sep 1862 in Cape Girardeau County. Horse appraised at $125 and horse equipment at $15.  Appears on list of men sent to Searcy, AR 26 Jul 1863 among those dismounted and unarmed.  Returned to command at date not of record.  Paroled at Shreveport, LA 7 Jun 1865.  Residence: Cape Girardeau County.

Enlisted as Private in Co F 27 Sep 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Horse appraised at $140 and horse equipment at $15. Present 31 Dec 1863.  Transferred to 4th MO Field Artillery (Harris' Battery) sometime in early 1864.  Paroled with battery at Grand Ecore, LA 6 Jun 1865.  Residence: Cape Girardeau County.

ADAMS, JOHN CALVIN: Age: 33.  Enlisted as a Private in Jeffers’ independent cavalry company at New Madrid on 26 Feb 1862. Transferred to Brown’s Arkansas Battery (Newton Artillery) 15 Aug 1862. Enlisted as Private in Co D 22 Sep 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Horse appraised at $115 and horse equipment at $10.  Appointed 3rd Sergeant 26 Sep 1862.  Paroled at Shreveport, LA 7 Jun 65 as 1st Sergeant.  His biography may be found in Goodspeed’s History of Southeast Missouri, p. 1118.  Residence: Cape Girardeau County.

ALDRIDGE, JOHN A.: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Private, 4th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division) Enlisted as Private in Co B 1 Jun 1863.  Surrendered himself and appears on roll of prisoners at Cape Girardeau, MO dated 30 Nov 1863.  Discharged from arrest on $1000 bond.  Bond not returned with security. (No Further Record).

ALEXANDER, CHARLES: Age: 31.  Enlisted as Private in Co C 12 Sep 1862 in Wayne County.  Horse appraised at $100 and horse equipment at $10.  Killed in action at Hartville, MO 11 Jan 1863.  Residence: Cape Girardeau County.

ALEXANDER, ROBERT G.: Age: ? Enlisted as Private in Co F 27 Sep 1862.  Horse appraised at $175 and horse equipment at $15.  Appointed 1st Sergeant 4 Oct 1862.  Deserted 20 Aug 63.  Returned to command as he is listed as present 20 Dec 63.  (No Further Record). Residence: Cape Girardeau County.

ALLEN, ALBERT B.: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Adjutant, 4th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division) Age: 20. Enlisted as Private in Co H 1 Oct 1862 in Scott County.  Elected 1st Lieutenant 12 Nov 1862, and  appointed adjutant, Jeffers' Mo Cavalry Battalion, 14 Nov and served as such until 10 Dec 1862. Apparently served as regimental adjutant without appointment until officially appointed 11 April 1864 (one week after his death) to rank from 19 Feb 1864.  Mortally wounded in action at Campti, LA 4 Apr 1864.  Residence: Scott County.

ALLEN, DANIEL JACKSON: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Private, 4th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division) Age: 18. Enlisted as Private in Co A 25 Aug 1862 in Bollinger County. Assigned as a teamster in 1863. Wounded 23 Oct 1864 at Big Blue (Byram’s Ford), MO, and taken prisoner of war at Mine Creek, KS 25 Oct 1864.  Sent to St. Louis, MO, and thence to Alton, IL and then to Rock Island, IL 19 (?) Nov 1864.  Received at Rock Island, IL 8 Dec 1864.   Transferred to City Point, VA for exchange 25 Feb 1865.  Treated at 3rd Division Hospital, Camp Winder, VA and paid at hospital on 7 Mar 1865.  Also on roll of Jackson Hospital in Richmond, VA, having been admitted 2 Mar 1865 with “debilitas.” Furloughed 8 Mar 1865 for 30 days.  On a roll as arrived at Richmond, VA 6 Mar 1865 and forwarded to Gen. Francis Marion Cockrell (1st Missouri Confederate Brigade) 7 Mar 1865.  Paroled at Shreveport, LA, 7 Jun 1865. According to Eakin, Missouri Prisoners of War, n.p., he was taken prisoner at Mound City, KS, on 24 Oct 64 (doubtless Mine Creek, KS, on 25 Oct 64). His pension application is on file in the MO State Archives, Jefferson City, MO.  Died 10 Oct 1930 and is buried at Ebenezer Cemetery, Bollinger Co, MO.  Residence: Bollinger County.

ALLEN, JOHN W. R.: Age: 22.  Enlisted as Private in Co B 17 Aug 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Horse appraised at $100 and horse equipment at $15.  Present 31 Dec 1863.  (No Further Record).

ALLEN, WILLIAM CEDRIC: Age: 16. Enlisted as Private in Co A 20 Aug 1862 in Bollinger County. Horse appraised at $150 and horse equipment at $25.  On list of non-effective and dismounted men sent to Searcy, AR 26 Jul 1863.  Reported as remounted and ready to return to command 23 Aug 1863. Made prisoner of war at Mine Creek, KS 25 Oct 1864. Sent to St. Louis, MO, thence to Alton, IL, and thence to Smallpox Island 28 Nov 1864. Received at United States post and prison hospital 28 Nov 1864, with variola, and then sent to quarters 26 Dec 1864. Exchanged at Point Lookout, MD. On list of prisoners paroled to be sent to Gen. Francis Marion Cockrell (1st Missouri Confederate Brigade), having arrived in Richmond, VA, 1 Mar 1865.  Paroled at Shreveport, LA 7 Jun 1865.  Died in Madras, TX, shortly before 16 May 1918, and is buried in Shiloh Cemetery at that location.  See his obituary in Wilkinson, Obituaries 1889-1924 from the Banner Press, at p. 2.  Residence: Bollinger County. 

ALTON, WILBERN F.: Age: 18. Appears that he previously served in the 1st Missouri Infantry Regiment, C.S.A., and was discharged from that organization on 25 Jul 1862.  Enlisted as Private in Co C 20 Aug 1862.  Horse appraised at $170 and horse equipment at $4.  Present 31 Dec 1863.  (No Further Record). Residence: Cape Girardeau County.

AMOS, NICHOLAS: Age: 22. Enlisted as Private in Co B 22 Sep 1862 in Cape Girardeau County. Horse appraised at $130 and horse equipment at $12.  Transferred to Co G 4 Oct 1862.  Present 31 Dec 1863.  (No Further Record).  Residence: Cape Girardeau County. An obituary for this soldier is in the Missouri Cash-Book, Jackson, MO 28 Feb 1901 issue.
ANCELL, COLUMBUS DURRETT: Age: 25. Enlisted as Private in Co E 18 Aug 1862 in Mississippi County.  Horse appraised at $60 and horse equipment at $10.  Deserted on scout in Missouri 1 May 1863. He was a brother of George Washington Ancell, and a first cousin to all other Ancells in the regiment.

ANCELL, GEORGE WASHINGTON: Age: 20. Enlisted as Private in Co E 18 Aug 1862 in Mississippi County.  Horse appraised at $140 and horse equipment at $10.  Absent for 60 days furlough commencing 4 Jul 1863. Taken prisoner (probably wounded) at Glasgow, MO 15 Oct 1864.  Forwarded on steamer Hattie May to St. Louis, MO 4 Nov 1864. Admitted Gratiot St. Hospital 11 Nov 1864. Returned to duty 2 Dec 1864. Admitted United States Hospital at Alton, IL 6 Jan 1865 (Variloid), and returned to duty 13 Jan 1865. Forwarded to Point Lookout, MD for exchange.  Exchanged and arrived Richmond, VA 1 Mar 1865, with note “sick.”  Forwarded to 1st Missouri Confederate Brigade.  (No Further Record). He was a brother of Washington Durrett Ancell.

ANCELL, GRANVILLE ROBERT: Age: 18. Enlisted as Private in Co E 18 Aug 1862 in Mississippi County.  Promoted to 4th Corporal 1 Jun 1863.  Promoted to 3rd Corporal at date not of record.  Present 31 Dec 1863.  (No Further Record).

ANCELL, HENRY CLAY: Age: 20. Enlisted as Private in Co E 18 Aug 1862 in Mississippi County.  Horse appraised at $120 and horse equipment at $20.  Present 31 Dec 1863.  (No Further Record).  He was the twin brother of Washington Durrett Ancell.  Buried at Old Ancell Cemetery, near Kelso, Scott County, MO.

ANCELL, JAMES HARVEY: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Private, 4th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division) Age: 25. Enlisted as Private in Co H 1 Oct 1862 in Scott County.  Deserted 20 Nov 1862.  Died March 26, 1866 and buried in the Old Ancell Cemetery, near Kelso, Scott County, MO.

ANCELL, JOHN C.: Age: 24. Enlisted as Private in Co E 18 Aug 1862 in Mississippi County.   Horse appraised at $130 and horse equipment at $20.  Appointed 3rd Corporal 1 Oct 1862.  Promoted to 2nd Corporal at date not of record.  Appears on a list of men sent to dismounted cavalry 26 Jul 1863.  Deserted on the march to Little Rock, AR 1 Aug 1863.

ANCELL, WASHINGTON DURRETT: Age: 20. Enlisted as Private in Co E 18 Aug 1862 in Mississippi County.  Horse appraised at $140 and horse equipment at $15.  Present until taken prisoner in Madison Co, MO 25 Oct 1864, probably sick or wounded.  He was transferred from St. Louis, MO to Alton, IL military prison 30 Nov 1864 and then to Rock Island, IL 7 Dec 1864.  Arrived at Point Lookout, MD for exchange 13 Mar 1865.  After exchange, he was one of over sixty men placed under the charge of Lt. Robert H. Stockton, 2nd MO Infantry Regt, who was to escort them from Richmond, VA to the 1st MO Brigade at Mobile, AL.  The contingent of former prisoners left Richmond by rail on or about 24 March 1865, but after the first fifty miles the trains ceased running and the group was forced to proceed on foot.  They reached Eufaula, AL on 12 Apr.  Lt. Stockton learned of the surrender of Gen. Robert E. Lee at that point and released the men to go where they wished. See Confederate Veteran, 12 (1904), pp. 380-381.  He joined the 2 Missouri Cavalry Regiment at that time, as he was paroled as Private, Co B, 2 Missouri Cavalry Regiment, 16 May 1865 at Columbus, MS.  He was the twin brother of Henry Clay Ancell. Died of pneumonia in 1899 and is buried in the Ancell Cemetery, near Kelso, Scott County, MO.

ANDERSON, GEORGE W.: Age: 38. Enlisted as Private in Co I 15 Sep 1862 in New Madrid County.  Horse appraised at $200 and horse equipment at $5.  Present 31 Dec 1863. Paroled at Jacksonport, AR Jun 1865.

ANDERSON, JAMES: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Private, 4th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division) Age: 27. Enlisted as Private in Co H 18 Oct 1862 in Scott County.  Deserted 15 Dec 1862.

ANDERSON, JOHN: Age: 35. Enlisted as Private in Co D 22 Sep 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Deserted 18 Dec 1862.  Returned from desertion 28 Apr 1863. Detailed to subsistence dept to herd cattle 22 Jun 1863. Detailed to subsistence department under the command Captain Charles N. Roberts at Arkadelphia, AR 2 Oct 1863. Returned to give himself up and in guardhouse at Cape Girardeau, MO 30 Sep 1864.  May have been exchanged as he was apparently paroled with regiment at Shreveport, LA 7 Jun 1865.  (But see entry for the following soldier, John A. Anderson.) Residence: Cape Girardeau County.

ANDERSON, JOHN A.: Age: 29.  Enlisted as Private in Co D 22 Sept 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Detailed to herd cattle Apr 1863.  Appears on list of dismounted and unarmed men sent to Searcy, AR 26 Jul 1863.  Present 31 Dec 1863. (No Further Record). (It appears likely to the compiler that this is the John Anderson that was paroled at Shreveport, rather than the John Anderson, supra, or, they may in fact be one and the same person) Died 23 Feb 1887 in Clay Co, AR.

ANDERSON, WILLIAM: Age: 26 or 36. Enlisted as Private in Co B 12 Sep 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Horse appraised at $100 and horse equipment at $8.  Transferred to Co G 4 Oct 1862.  Appears on list of dismounted and unarmed men sent to Searcy, AR 26 Jul 1863.  He was detailed and left in camp.  Present 31 Aug 1863.  (No Further Record).

ANDERSON, WILLIAM: Age: 19. Enlisted as Private in Co H 1 Oct 1862 in Scott County.  Prisoner of war in Scott Co, probably while on leave, 20 Dec 1862.  (No Further Record).

ANDREWS, JOHN T.: Age: 24. Enlisted as Private in Co H 1 Oct 1862 in Scott County.  Present 31 Dec 1863.  (No Further Record).

ARNETT, DUNCAN: Age: 30. Enlisted as Private in Co C 1 Aug 1862 in Wayne County.  "Deserted from Col. White.  Arrested and returned 19 May 1863."  (No Further Record).  (This man most likely belonged to Co C, 9 Missouri Infantry Regiment rather than 8th Cavalry Regiment, as Colonel James D. White commanded the 9th MO Infantry.)  Died 13 Apr 1905, and is buried at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Iron Co, MO.

ARNETT, JOHN: Age: 18.  Enlisted as Private in Co C 1 Aug 1862 in Wayne County.  Killed in action at Bloomfield, MO 11 Sep 1862.
ARNETT, JOSEPH: Age: 20. Enlisted as Private in Co C 1 Aug 1862 in Wayne County. Horse appraised at $100 and horse equipment at $8.  "Deserted from Col. White.  Arrested and returned 19 May 1863."  (This man probably belonged to the 9th MO Infantry Regiment, for he gave his parole as such after being surrendered with Gen. Joseph E. Johnson’s command at Charlotte, NC 20 May 1865.)

ASBELL, WILLIAM NELSON: Age: 26. Previously served in the 7th Kentucky Cavalry Regiment. Enlisted as Private in Co E 20 Sep 1862 in Mississippi County. Horse appraised at $75 and horse equipment at $10.  Taken prisoner in Franklin Parish, LA 15 Mar 1864.  Prisoner of war at Alton, IL military prison from 15 May 1864 until forwarded to Camp Douglass, IL 23 Aug 1864.  Sent to Point Lookout, MD for exchange 13 Feb 1865.  (No Further Record). Served subsequently with the 3rd & 5th Missouri Infantry Regiment (Consolidated) in the 1st Missouri Confederate Brigade.  Died 16 July 1894 in Cayce, Fulton Co, KY, and is buried in a cemetery at that locale. 

ASHLEY, FRANKLIN: Age: 25. Enlisted as Private in Co H 10 Oct 1862 in Scott County.  Deserted 15 Dec 1862.

AUSTIN, MARION L.: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Private, 4th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division) Age: 20. Enlisted as Private in Co B 17 Aug 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Horse appraised at $110 and horse equipment at $8.  Listed as a teamster for the third quarter of 1863. Sent to Searcy, AR with dismounted and unarmed men on 26 Jul 1863, where he is listed as having deserted.

AUTRY, ROBERT JACOB: Age: 21. Enlisted as Private in Co K 25 May 1863 at Wittsburg, AR.  Transferred to Lawther's Dismounted Cavalry Regiment 25 July 1863.  Returned to command.  Paroled as Private, Co F at Wittsburg, AR 25 May 1865, with the remark that his “regiment was south of the river.”  Described as having blue eyes, black hair, dark complexion, 5' 4" in height.  Born: Missouri.  A very brief memoir describing his travails at the beginning of the 1864 raid into Missouri is contained in his file in the records of the United Daughters of the Confederacy at the Missouri State Archives in Jefferson City, MO.

BAILEY, COLUMBUS D.: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Private, McDonald’s Battery, 1st Division) Age: 18. Enlisted as Private in Co I 25 Oct 1862 in New Madrid County. Deserted 15 Nov 1862.  Made a prisoner of war in Bollinger Co, MO 27 Dec 1862.  Forwarded to Gratiot Prison, St. Louis, MO 4 Jan 1863.  Forwarded to Allen's Point, VA for exchange 2 Apr 1863.  Sent to 1st MO Brigade and was severely wounded in the leg during the siege of Vicksburg while serving with the 3 Mo Cavalry Battalion (Dismounted).  Taken prisoner of war with garrison at Vicksburg, MS 4 Jul 1863.  (No Further Record). This soldier joined the 6th MO Cavalry Regiment (Union) sometime after he returned home from Vicksburg. His biography may be found in Goodspeed’s History of Southeast Missouri, pp. 1011-1012.  Residence: Stoddard County. Buried in the city cemetery at Dexter, MO.

BAIN, COLUMBUS W.: Age: 23. Enlisted as Private in Co B 15 Aug 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Horse appraised at $100 and horse equipment at $15.  Appointed 3rd Sergeant 13 Sep 1862.  Promoted to 2nd Sergeant 5 Oct 1862.  Taken prisoner of war at Little Rock, AR 10 Sep 1863.  Released on oath from Camp Morton, IN 25 Jan 1865.  Physical description: light complexion; sandy hair; gray eyes; and 6 feet 3 ¼ inches in height.

BAKER, CHRISTOPHER C.: Age: 22.  Enlisted as Private in Co B 17 Aug 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Horse appraised at $150 and horse equipment at $8.  Transferred to Co G 5 Oct 1862.  Absent without leave 26 Aug 1863.  (No Further Record).

BAKER, JAMES: Age: 22. Enlisted as Private in Co A 20 Aug 1862 in Bollinger County.  Deserted 26 Oct 1862.

BAKER, JAMES H.: Age: 18. Enlisted as Private in Co A 17 Aug 1862 in Bollinger County.  Died at Pocahontas, AR 26 Dec 1862 of cause not of record.

BAKER, JOHN: Age: 29. Enlisted as Private in Co I 1 Sep 1862 in New Madrid County.  Deserted 25 Dec 1862 while on furlough.

BAKER, JONATHAN: Age: 25. Enlisted as Private in Co A 28 Aug 1862 in Bollinger County.  Deserted 30 Oct 1862.

BAKER, JOSEPH: Age: 25. Enlisted as Private in Co B 17 Aug 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Horse appraised at $140 and horse equipment at $12.  Present 31 Dec 1863. (No Further Record).

BANCROFT, CHARLES: Age: 15. Enlisted as Private in Co I 14 Aug 1862 in New Madrid County.  Horse appraised at $115 and horse equipment at $5.  Appointed 2nd Corporal 2 Dec 1862.  Mortally wounded (shot in chest) at Independence, MO 22 Oct 1864, and died in a Union hospital there.  Residence: New Madrid County.

BARKER, JOSEPH A.: Age: 20. Enlisted as Private in Co E 20 Sept 1862 in Mississippi County.  Absent sick in Batesville, AR hospital on Mar\Apr 1863 bimonthly report.  (No Further Record).

BARNES, ROBERT: Age: ? His enlistment data is not of record.  Paroled as Private, Co C 7 Jun 1865 at Shreveport, LA. Residence: Boone County, MO.  Probably joined, or was conscripted, during the Price Raid of 1864 and assigned to the regiment.

BARNES, ROBERT L.: Age: 20. Enlisted as Private in Co E 20 Sep 1862 in Mississippi County.  Deserted while on a furlough of 10 days from 16 Dec 1862.

BARR, WILLIAM: Age: 18. Enlisted as Private in Co G 3 Oct 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Taken prisoner of war 25 Dec 1862 while on 30 days furlough.  Released on oath Jan 1863 upon agreeing to enroll in the Union militia.

BARTLETT, HENRY G.: Age: ? His enlistment data is not of record.  Served as a Private, Co I. Appears on list of wounded prisoners of war captured at Mine Creek, KS 25 Oct 1864.  Forwarded to Camp Morton, IN where he died (inflammation of the lungs) 5 Jan 1865. He is buried in the Confederate section of Green Lawn Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.

BARTLETT, LUTHER: Age: ? His enlistment data is not of record.  Served as a Private, Co I (?).  Died of disease 5 May 1865 at Shreveport, LA. Anders, Confederate Roll of Honor: Missouri, p. 8.

BARTON, SAMUEL L.: Age: 22. Enlisted as Private in Co C 15 Oct 1862 in Wayne County.  Deserted 20 Oct 1862.

BASKETT, T. J.: Served as Assistant Surgeon at a military hospital in Arkadelphia, AR.   Ordered to report for duty with Marmaduke’s Cavalry Division under Special Orders No. 179, Headquarters, District of Arkansas on 8 Oct 1863. Actual term of service with regiment is unknown. His pension application is on file at the Missouri State Archives, Jefferson City, MO.

BAYLESS, WILLIAM W.: Age: 24. Enlisted as Private in Co C 20 Aug 1862 in Wayne County.  Horse appraised at $125 and horse equipment at $8.  Detailed as regimental blacksmith.  Present 31 Dec 1863.  (No Further Record).

BEADLES, CHARLES W.: Age: 23. Enlisted as Private in Co K 18 Oct 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Horse appraised at $125 and horse equipment at $12.  Present 31 Aug 1863.  (No Further Record).

Enlisted as Private in Co A 3 Sep 1862 in Bollinger County.  Horse appraised at $125 and horse equipment at $10.  Transferred to dismounted cavalry at Searcy, AR 26 Jul 1863.  (No Further Record).  Possibly the same person as Daniel B. Beal who applied for a pension from Clay Co, AR, and died there on 12 Mar 1909.

BEAL, SILAS: Age: 24. Enlisted as Private in Co B 26 Sep 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.   Horse appraised at $50 and horse equipment at $8.  Transferred to dismounted cavalry at Searcy, AR 26 Jul 1863.  (No Further Record).

Admitted to Gratiot St. United States Army Hospital 11 Nov 1864 and returned to duty 2 Dec 1864. Transferred to Alton IL, military prison.  Exchanged at Point Lookout, MD 17 Jan 1865 and ordered to 1st Missouri Confederate Brigade but left sick at Greensboro, NC.  (No Further Record).  Residence: Cape Girardeau County. He was a brother of John Ashley Bennett.  Edward H. Bennett died before 1870, apparently in Cape Girardeau County, MO.

Porter at time of capture.  Exchanged.  Thence served as 2nd Lieutenant, Co C, 1 & 4 Mo Infantry Regiment (Consolidated), 1st Missouri Confederate Brigade, from 1 Dec 1863 - (?). He resigned his commission in the regiment after being disabled by wounds.  Later served as post adjutant at Demopolis, AL. Subsequently enlisted as a Private in the 5th Company, Washington Artillery, of Louisiana.  Paroled with that unit at Meridian, MS, 10 May 1865.  Residence: Cape Girardeau County.  Lived at Vicksburg, MS, post-war where he died prior to 1903.

Horse appraised at $110 and horse equipment at $5.  Taken prisoner of war at Mine Creek, KS 25 Oct 1864.  Died of small pox at United States Army Small Pox Hospital, St. Louis, MO 15 Nov 1864.  Residence: Scott County.

BUTLER, WILLIAM: Age: 18.  Enlisted as Private in Co H 1 Oct 1862 in Scott County.  Horse appraised at $100 and horse equipment at $3.  Deserted 27 Jul 1863.  Returned to command.  Taken prisoner of war in Scott Co, MO 18 Sep 1863.  Died of disease at Camp Morton, IN 14 Apr 1864 and is buried in the Confederate section of Green Lawn Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN. Prison records indicate 6’ in height and that he had hazel eyes and dark hair.  Residence: Scott County.

BYRD, WILLIAM MILLARD: Age: 18.  Enlisted as Private in Co G 25 Jun 1863 at Wittsburg, AR.  Shown as present 31 Aug 1863.  (No Further Record).  Goodspeed's History of Southeast Missouri, p. 747, indicates that he was detailed to care for the wounded at Pilot Knob, MO 27 Sep 1864. He was taken prisoner of war there, and paroled at date not of record. His obituary is in the Missouri Cash-Book, Jackson, MO 24 Jul 1924. Residence: Cape Girardeau County.
