1836:

October: Hiko is born




1844:

January 1: Saitou is born
February 26: “Kibagami Tenrou” is born in Misawa.
November 13: Tenshou Joketsu (aka:Tenshou no Shinda) is born.




1845:

April 22: Okudaira (Misaki) Midori is born.
August 31: Kuraisóra Manji is born in Northern Japan.




1846:

January 3: Miura (Yukichi) Kazuo is born in Ajigasawa.
October 29: Takagi Tokio is born in Aizu.
December 20: Mimeino Mikeru is born.




1847:

Tenrou’s family dies during a raid on their village. The sole survivor, Tenrou is rescued by a ronin by the name of Kibagami Heisuke.




1848:

May 21: Miyamoto Satsuki is born.
August: Shishio is born.




1850:

April 4: Kadokura Hiro is born.




1851:

January 27: Mariko is born.
June 20: Kenshin is born.
July: Mariko's mother dies.




1852:

March: Takashi Shirakawa,"Kitsune" is born.




1853:

January: Aoshi is born.




1854:

Commodore Matthew Perry opened trade between the United States and Japan.




1855:

Tokio’s sister, Tami, is born. 1month later Tokio’s mother dies due to complications. Tokio steps in to take her mother’s place.




1856:

After the murder of her father and a near fatal beating, Joketsu cut off her hair and re-entered the world as a boy.




1857:

Manji left his home and ventured out on his own.
December: Takani Megumi is born.




1858:

July 1: Shirobana Setsuna (aka Setsu, or Soushi) is born.




1859:

Misaki’s father dies. She’s taken in by Saitou and nicknamed Midori.




1860:

February: Sanosuke is born.




1861:

September 4: Seta Jinko (aka Ginrou/Ginny-san) and Seta Soujirou are born.




1862:

Setsuna is sent to train with a retired Oniwabanshu weapons expert, in outskirts of Kyoto.
June: Kaoru is born




1863:

Tokio's younger brother, Seinosuke, joins Shinsengumi.
Manji masters the Mutenichi-Ryu style. Has a chance meeting with Shinsengumi. Soon joins Kagetai.
January: Satsuki’s mother’s difficult pregnancy ends in death of mother and the baby boy.
June: Father and Satsuki move to Kyoto where her father joined the Shinsengumi.
November: Misao is born
Late November: Satsuki’s father dies
December: Saitou Hajime pays his respects to a recovering Satsuki. Satsuki begs him to let him make up for her father's recklessness behavior.




KAGETAI YEARS {founded in December...}

1864:

Kibagami Tenrou had become a master of various techniques, both with and without a katana.
Joketsu returns to Kyoto and presents herself to Shinsengumi and is turned away. Later approached by Saitou and inducted into the Kagetai.
Hiro’s father dies and he inherits kenjutsu school.
Takashi inherits Shirakawa estate. Masters the Yoko Nagi.
Late March: Satsuki gets a message, presumably from Saitou, along with her naginata. Begins working for Kagetai doing light espionage.
April: Mariko’s father dies in an official mission. (He was part of the Shinsengumi)
May: Mariko leaves her home in Osaka, and start her travel around Japan.
June: Tenrou, now 20, faces Hiko Seijuurou, near Kyoto. Tenrou was forced to flee having been beaten within an inch of his life, his sword broken in two.
June: Ikedaya Affair
July: Tokio meets Saitou Hajime after her family relocates to Kyoto.
October: Mariko arrives in Kyoto and meets the Oniwabanshu.
After a 6month respite In Mt. Hiei Tenrou creates "Ryukoshinken." He returns to Kyoto and is recruited as 3rd member of Kagetai. His duties: track and report the movements of the Battousai to Saitou.




1865:

Hiro leaves home, joins kagetai
January: Kazuo's wanderings took him to Otsu, where he lived with merchants. He’s challenged by Saitou and loses. Saitou takes Kazuo to Kyoto with him to join the Kagetai.




1866:

Midori meets and becomes close to Joketsu and Kazuo.
Setsuna sent to train under Okita Souji. Is nicknamed ‘Soushi’ Learns the Hirazuki and other skills.
Mariko meets Saitou and become a member of the Kagetai.




1867:

Soushi visits his parents in Kyoto only to see them killed by a hitokiri with a flaming sword. Is beaten by a band of Ishins. Returns to his first master and learns of Okita’s death. Is taught the principle of 'Aku, Soku, Zan'.
February: Satsuki, now 18, relocates to Tokyo.
April: Satsuki takes a job under Jan Goyvaerts, a Dutch immigrant, teaching government officials and merchants foreign culture.
June: Jan finances Satsuki's trip to Europe, where she encounters her mother's family in the Netherlands.
September: Satsuki falls badly ill upon her return to Japan.
September - Mikeru attempts to join the Shinsengumi, is drafted into the Kagetai instead.
November: Igarashi Takeo, a childhood friend and now a doctor, comes from Kyoto to nurse Satsuki. She is infinitely grateful.




1868:

February: Jan Goyvaerts dies, and Satsuki is surprised to find that he has left her a great deal of his assets.
Shinobu and Kiri join the Kagetai.




1869:

Hiro leaves the Kagetai just before the Boshin war.
Boshin war.
Takashi and Aoshi part, as friends.
January: Kazuo enlists in Boshin war with the edo region swordsmen. Wounded by a western cannon. Revives 2 weeks later with an ainu village headman & his daughter. Thinking the Kagetai destroyed, Kazuo becomes a fugitive. Relocates to Hokkaido.
January: Yahiko is born.




1870:

(The White Lily Teaset) Takashi is betrayed and almost killed. Later that year he joined the Kagetai.
Aoi joins the Kagetai.
April - Mikeru leaves whatever the heck he was doing previously (what was the state of the Kagetai post-bakumatsu, but pre-Saitoh-as-a-policeman? IS there even such a time?) to start a small bookshop in Tokyo.




1871:

Kazuo marries the ainu girl
Master dies of old age. Setsuna moves to Kyoto. Meets Soujirou, Soujiko (Ukyo), and Kamatari.




1872:

Takashi finds Ninko. She helps Takashi grow from a hurt young boy to a caring man. He resumes his works as ikebana and Zen teacher.
Soushi defends a small child from Ishins. Saitou observes the skirmish and recruits Soushi into Kagetai.
June: Kazuo’s daughter, Megumi, is born.




1873:

Tokio and Saitou are married.
Midori flees Kagetai, goes to Kyoto.
Soushi meets Takashi and Jinko, whom he becomes friends with. Briefly meets Midori.
Yuushiro, Yuriko, and Jinko join the Kagetai.




1874:

Saitou changes his name to Fujita Gorou.
(Breath of Heaven story sequence) Midori leaves Kyoto to wander. Eventually adopts Ayaka.
Mariko marries an English man named John Blackthorne.
Kenjurou joins the Kagetai.




1875:

Mariko has her first child. (Kiku)




1876:

Tsutomu, Saitoh & Tokio's first son, is born.
Emperor Meiji declared a new law that ended the wearing of swords.
Kazuo’s wife dies at hand of bear. After killing the bear, Kazuo and Megumi are banished from the village and become wanderers.
Mariko travels to Europe, leaving Japan for a year.
Ayumi joins the Kagatai.




1877:

Saitou joined the sword carrying police troop.
Hiro comes under the employ of Saitou and Kawaji after years of wandering.
Mariko arrives Japan and has her second child. (Omi)
Ayumi leaves.




1878:

Kazuo settles in Hamamatsu and becomes a woodblock artist and furniture maker. After a visit from Saitou, he rejoins the Kagetai’s ranks as an active member.
Takashi is living with Ninko and, her cousin. Works for Saitou daily. (Fox Between Wolves)
Kenshin meets Kaoru (RK Begins)




1879:

A Fox Between Geisha takes place.
Mariko's husband dies, victim of tuberculosis.




1880:

Mitsuki returns.




1928:

Mariko dies of natural causes. (77 years)
