Japanese Foods

There are many curious Japanese foods that are commonly eaten and used in bento. Since i was raised on a pretty American diet, I really don't know much about Japanese food, so I'm going to go over what I've learned of some Japanese foods. Please forgive any mistakes I may make, I'm no authority on Japanese foods and cooking, its just a small hobby. Feel free to e-mail me with any corrections I could make to my information.

Warning About Bento: Bento is a packed lunch that is kept at room temperature (preferably a cool area) but is not refrigerated once on the go with you. All meats and fish should be well cooked (sashimi should be avoided). Food poisoning could easily occur if the food is not prepared properly. Be sure to pack food that will do okay outside of a refrigerator for a few hours, or just keep your bento refrigerated.

I've arranged the items into food pyramid-esque categories. I'm sorry that I don't have many pictures of the foods up; I'm trying to use only photos I've taken myself, and I haven't taken many or even bought all of the foods I've listed.
