Chapter 3
Kaiiki’s Past

“Makkura… wake up…” Makkura heard. All he saw was black.

“I’m blind! Oh god, I’m blind!!” He cried frantically. He heard a soft giggle and frowned in dismay, “This isn’t funny!!”

“Yes it is Makkura… Your eyes are closed silly!” He heard the giggling again and opened his eyes to see Kaiiki above him.

“Oh…” He blushed in embarrassment. He sat up and winced before noticing he was shirtless in Kaiiki’s bed, “Uh, I’m sorry!” He said looking away blushing.

“I think you should be the light one and Kashoku should be the dark one Makkura…” She laughed, “You always seem to be the good one while Kashoku goofs off!”

Makkura smiled, “I’m only good around you…” He smiled and Kaiiki laughed.

“I heard… so you punched Juusanso…” Makkura looked away again.

“Yeah… well… She was talking about you!” Kaiiki smiled and sat on the edge of the bed pushing the black hair over Makkura’s eye away. She blinked and smiled more.

“You have one blue eye and one silver eye Makkura…” She laughed. Makkura looked over at her.

“Yeah well… people think I’m different because of that…”

“Then they are stupid… it’s natural for that to happen… A lot of people on earth have blue and brown eyes…”

Makkura smiled and looked around, “So… where is my shirt?” Kaiiki laughed some and shook her head.

“Are you still uncomfortable around me?” She asked smirking raising an eyebrow.

“In your room, yes… in my room… yes… in public… not you but everyone else…” He smiled.

Kaiiki let out a heartfelt yawn and crawled into the bed lying behind him. He stiffened as she cuddled against his back letting out a heartfelt yawn.

“Why are you tired?” He asked quietly He turned on his other side so he could look at her.

“I was worrying about you… I haven’t slept in 24 hours… you’ve been passed out for a day…” She muttered. He smile some wrapping his arms around her as she snuggled into his chest yawning.

“Well Kaiiki, get some sleep because I’m better…” He whispered. Kaiiki nodded and soon fell asleep. “But… who was it that shot me?” He thought closing his eyes also falling back asleep.

~*~

Kaiiki woke up to find her bed empty. She yawned and sat up seeing Makkura’s shirt and cloak gone. “I wonder where he went…” She thought rubbing her eyes. She got out of bed before straightening the covers before grabbing a light blue robe. She pulled it over her wrinkled clothes leaving her room.

“Good morning Kaiiki!” She heard a voice holler. She turned and saw Juusanso running toward her. She smiled some and waved.

“Good Morning Juusanso… have you seen Makkura?” She asked. Juusanso blinked and tilted her head.

“He left last night… I thought you knew…” Juusanso said.

“Uh… actually I didn’t… I… err… fell asleep…” Kaiiki said blushing a crimson red color.

Juusanso smirked, “So you two were sleeping in the same bed?” Kaiiki turned redder. She opened her mouth to say something but she felt strong arms wrap around her waist.

Kaiiki smiled as the person holding whispered in her ear, “Morning Sunshine…” She felt a light kiss on her cheek and giggled.

“Good Morning Makkura…” She laughed. Juusanso smiled at the couple. Makkura kissed her cheek again and released her. Makkura smiled down on his fiancée and looked at Juusanso.

“Uh… Juusanso… I have a question… that day when I was shot by the arrow…”

“The Fog demon that I struck fired it back at you…” She said without blinking.

“Oh… Thanks…” Makkura nodded and looked at Kaiiki, “Anyway, did you have a nice sleep babe?”

“Yeah… but why did you leave last night?” Kaiiki asked tilting her head.

Juusanso snorted and coughed trying to keep in her laugh. Makkura blushed brightly, “I… didn’t want someone to walk in assuming something happened when nothing did…” Kaiiki smiled and kissed him.

“Anyway, can I talk to you in private Kaiiki?” Juusanso asked with a red face. Kaiiki smiled and nodded.

“Of course, step into in my office,” She gestured toward her room, “Uh… just pardon the clothes… I kind of got upset a few nights ago…” Juusanso laughed and followed Kaiiki into her room. Makkura sighed and walked off leaving the girls to talk.

“So, what do you need to talk about?” Kaiiki asked jumping on her bed. She sat down and looked at Juusanso.

“Well… the day we went to go hunt down the Fog Demons, Makkura punched because I had made a remark about how you were injured…” Kaiiki nodded, “Well… Tsuta was telling me, about your family and past…”

The color drained from Kaiiki’s face as she listened to Juusanso. Juusanso stared at Kaiiki, “So… what do you want to know?”

“How did you’re father die Kaiiki?” Kaiiki looked away.

“I don’t want to talk about it…” She remarked.

“But Tsuta told me to ask you… she said it was your story to tell!”

“I don’t care what Tsuta said!!! I’m not saying anything about how it was MY fault my father died!” She yelled. Juusanso fell silent and Kaiiki looked away, “Just… leave my room… I need some time alone…”

“But its breakfast time…”

“Just go…” Kaiiki whispered. Juusanso sighed and walked slowly out of the room. Kaiiki sighed and propped her elbows up on her knees rubbed her forehead. “Father… why did you make me do that?” She thought.

~*~

“She just told me to go away… honest…” Juusanso muttered pressed up against a wall.

Darkness and hate was in Makkura’s eyes as he dropped the young girl, “Then why is she so upset?!”

“I-I don’t know…” Juusanso lied. Makkura growled dangerously.

“I know you do so don’t you start lying to me!” He barked. Juusanso closed her eyes tightly and turned her head. Makkura sighed and his eyes softened, “I’m sorry… please, just tell me why she is so upset?”

“I asked her about her father…” She muttered quietly. Makkura sighed and rubbed his forehead with his right hand, “Tsuta told me to ask her about it…”

“I’ll tell you… But don’t let her know…”

Juusanso smiled and jumped on Makkura hugging him tightly, “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” Makkura blinked and stepped back so Juusanso let go, “Sorry, I just want to know!”

“Yeah well, don’t hug me…” He muttered and pulled out two chairs at the table behind him. Juusanso sat down and looked at Makkura thoughtful as he sat down and sighed rubbing his forehead, “I don’t want Kaiiki to relive what happened… That’s why I’m telling you…”

Juusanso nodded and watched Makkura, “First off, how old was Kaiiki when he died?”

“She was around the age 13…”

“So this happened 5 years ago?”

“Sure did… Do you have any other questions?”

“How did he die?” Juusanso looked at Makkura with a questioning face.

“I’ll tell you soon, but do you have anything else to ask?”

“Uh…” Juusanso thought for a while before nodding, “If he died when she was 13… then how did her mother get the head leader position from him?”

“Well… because her father died after her mother… Her mother was the actual head leader… not her father…” Juusanso frowned and watched Makkura more, “Her mother died after giving birth to her. So the inheritance of the position fell to her father. He kept his daughter in the head quarters since he was never supposed to leave unless he had to fight…”

“So she was an automatic goddess at birth?” Makkura nodded and looked up.

“She sure was… she was born a goddess, raised as a goddess, and she’ll die as a goddess… She won’t have the same life that you’ve had or that I’ve had. We loose the memories of the ones we’ve known on Earth… but she can’t forget the ones she grew up with since they were all here… Her ex-fiancée and boyfriend William, is someone she can never forget… Only if she dies…” Makkura said clearly.

Juusanso frowned, “So… she’s never been on Earth?”

“No, she has… But she was still a goddess here…”

“Oh… so the memories before you were a god or goddess is lost…”

“Exactly… Try to remember your parents…”

“My… parents…” She mumbled. She stared at him for a while and frowned, “I… can’t remember them…”

Makkura nodded, “They were in your life before you became Juusanso…”

“W-What was my name before?”

“Arianna…” Makkura said quietly.

“Do you remember your name?” She asked quietly. Makkura nodded and sighed.

“Micahel… I mean… Tatsumaki, called me it one day when he threatened to banish me… My anger spouts at William almost got me kicked out…”

“What was your name?”

“My name was Aaron… Kashoku’s name was Rebecca… Kaiiki’s name was Harley… and Tsuta’s name was Rachel…” Juusanso smiled some.

“You had a nice name…”

“If you ever call me Aaron… I’ll have to encase you in complete darkness…” He muttered. Juusanso let out a nervous laugh and shook her head.

“Alright… I’ll continue to call you Makkura…” She said softly.

Makkura nodded, “You better…” He sighed and closed his eyes, “Anyway… we all knew Jishin, Kaiiki’s father well… He was loyal to his wife and never left her side. We she went into labor, they traveled down to Earth together where Kaiiki was conceived and received the name, Harley. Her mother died, a few says after she was born… but her father didn’t blame Kaiiki for it… he knew it wasn’t what Niji wanted… Once it was safe to head home, they brought Kaiiki back to the station right when another god was banished, the wind The needed two gods once again such as they did now… Water Goddess, and the wind god… Both were from Kaiiki’s family. Tatsumaki, was the replacement. He was still very old, at the age of 132, which was granted to him by Niji…

“Tatsumaki smiled upon his great granddaughter with sadness as she just looked like Niji. He was there, when she was born. He was in the room with his granddaughter’s last breath, and when his great granddaughter took her first steps… He watched both, grow… Both be born, said their first word, and both start going to school. You see how important Tatsumaki was to the family and us? Anyway, back on subject…”

Juusanso frowned listening to the sad story. She looked down and shook her head, “I’m not sure if I want to know…”

“Well I’m telling you anyway…” He muttered coldly, “You asked her, she won’t tell, you upset her, I’m going to tell the story…” Juusanso gulped and nodded, “So… Her father took good care of his only daughter and never looked at another woman except for Tsuta, who by then was at the age of 18 going on 19… She was Kaiiki’s baby-sitter when Jishin went out to protect the dynasty… He fought all night and day and came home to feed his baby. Then back out to fight. He did this for 13 years, and never once, called the baby Harley… it was always Kaiiki… only Tatsumaki, called her Harley…

“Well… on Kaiiki’s 13th birthday, he decided to teach her how to fight. The Moon Demons had invaded one of our major cities… So she grabbed her sword, changed her outfit, and headed out with us… She was a good fighter and since Tatsumaki taught her how to control her powers, she used that… But while I, Kashoku, and Tsuta were busy, many demons surrounded her… She tried her best to protect herself, but she was still young… still weak…” He clenched a fist and looked down, “Damn it… if I was following orders and stayed close to her…” He rubbed his forehead. Juusanso frowned looked at Makkura.

“W-What happened Makkura?” She asked softly.

“She screamed… the demons all attacked at once and were clawing and slashing at her. I looked back to see what had happened. But the demon I was fighting punched me and practically blew me up knocking me unconscious… I woke up and saw a bloody Kaiiki hugged her father’s dead body crying muttering, “Father…. Don’t leave me… Please!” Damn it… if I would have been there by her side…” He cursed.

Juusanso frowned, “Where was Tatsumaki?”

“He was watching the head quarters… He couldn’t leave since he had to watch over this place…”

Juusanso looked away and frowned, “Why… does Kaiiki blame herself?”

“Because if she was strong enough… she thought she could push them away… and her father would be alive…” Juusanso stood looking down. Makkura followed suit and looked at Juusanso.

“Thank you for telling me Makkura…” She sniffled and turned walking off. Makkura sighed and turned walking towards Kaiiki’s room. He knocked lightly on the door. He heard a sharp breath and a cough.

“Come in…” her heard her soft voice say. He walked in and saw Kaiiki with a tear stained face.

“Aw, Kaiiki…” He frowned and closed the door quietly. He walked over to her and kneeled in front of her, “What’s wrong love?” he said softly.

“She… asked me about Jishin…” She said softly looking away, her lip quivering.

“Kaiiki…” He cooed softly placed a hand on her cheek. She looked at him tears gliding down her cheeks. He wiped them away and kissed her forehead gently, “Don’t blame your self Kaiiki…” She opened her mouth to protest but Makkura kissed her to stop the words.

Her eyes closed and she kissed her fiancée back. He pulled back and she opened her eyes once more. He smiled at her and kissed her again a few more times and then on her cheek, “Please don’t blame your self Kaiiki… because it was not your fault…” Kaiiki nodded softly and hugged him closely to her. He smiled hugging her softly because kissing her head.

“Thank you Makkura…”

“Anything for you Kaiiki…” He whispered soothingly. She released him as did he and he moved her bangs off of her forehead kissing it, “Go get your self cleaned up love… The new arrival is coming and you have to perform the ceremony…” He said and she nodded sniffling. He watched get up and grab a tissue before heading into her bathroom. He sighed and rolled onto her bed, closing his eyes.

“Are you holding this grudge on me for a reason?!” Juusanso asked anger dripping in her voice. She followed Tsuta quickly as she headed to the Cargo Room.

“What are you talking about?!” Tsuta shot back, “And Hurry up, we’ll miss the new arrival!”

“I’m talking about this, I hate Juusanso attitude you and everyone else is giving me!” She stomped after Tsuta, “So why am I receiving this?!”

“BECAUSE TATSUMAKI HAD TO DIE!” Tsuta screamed turned around. Tears welled up in her eyes and she glared down at Juusanso. Juusanso fell quiet looking at Tsuta, “Damn it! Don’t you understand?! He had to DIE! That’s why you are here! When you were replaced, it meant he was really dead!” She muttered and turned off quickly walking to the Cargo Room. Juusanso watched Tsuta walk off and she looked out of the window to see the plane containing the Earthly supplies and new replacement.

~*~

“Where’s Juusanso?” Kaiiki asked seeing Tsuta walking over quickly.

“I don’t know… I guess she fell behind…” Tsuta mumbled and looked out the window, “What’s his name?”

“Josh… He’s 19 years old… Sophomore in College… from…” She squinted looking at the tiny writing on the paper she received, “I believe this says an American State of Alabama…”

Tsuta smirked, “Sweet… another Alabama person!” She laughed some and Kaiiki smiled big.

“Look who finally showed up…” Makkura remarked looking at Juusanso who slowly walked over. Tsuta didn’t look at Juusanso and Juusanso smiled some at Kaiiki and Makkura. Her eyes lowered to Kaiiki’s left hand and her eyes widened.

“Wait…” Juusanso said quietly. She pointed to Kaiiki’s left hand and Makkura looked over at Kaiiki. He seemed uneasy and Kaiiki placed her left hand in her pocket.

“What?” Tsuta asked with a low growl. She looked to the pocket Kaiiki’s hand was in and shrugged, “Wow… her hand is in a pocket…”

“No… she’s wearing a ring…”

“Whoopee… so am I…” Tsuta rolled her eyes.

“But it’s on her left hand’s ring finger and a really big diamond…” She said continuing point.

Tsuta blinked and smirked at Makkura, “So… you asked her to marry you?”

“Er… Everyone look! The Plane’s docked…” Kaiiki rushed blushing. She straightened her shirt and walked over to the docking station pressing the combination she had memorized. The doors slowly opened and everyone turned looking at the boy standing in front of Kaiiki.

“Er… ‘Ello.. I’m Josh…” He said pulling his backpacks strap up higher on his shoulder. He looked at them all and ran his right hand through his spiky red hair. He looked over at Makkura who was leaning on a wall with his hands crossed looking at him. He was standing next to Kaiiki who had her left hand in her pocket still. Josh’s gaze drifted to Tsuta who was standing straight with her hands behind her back. He finally looked over at Juusanso and smiled looking her over. She was short with her medium length blonde hair looking at her shoes with a sad expression on her face.

Kaiiki cleared her throat and stepped forward raising her right out. Josh looked at her and took it shaking her hand, “Hello Josh, I’m Kaiiki… The Head Leader… May I introduce you to Tsuta, She is second in command.” Josh nodded and shook Tsuta hand, “This is Makkura, and his twin sister Kashoku is sleeping… still…” Josh laughed some, “Then there is Juusanso, she’s also new here!”

Josh smiled and shook her hand. “She looks so sad…” Josh noticed before he looked back at Kaiiki, “So… what now?”

“Well, once Kashoku is up, we will have the ceremony of acceptance… you’ll receive the fire power, receive your new name, loose the memories of your past life… and well… live with us…” Josh nodded some, “Makkura, will you show Josh to his new room?” Makkura nodded. Kaiiki smiled at him. Makkura smiled as well and before he walked past her, he kissed her head.

“Follow me…” Makkura said walked off with Josh following him. Kaiiki watched them and she looked over at Tsuta who was smirking.

“Show me the ring Kaiiki…” She smirked more and Kaiiki blushed.

“I-I don’t know what you are talking about!” She cried. Tsuta smirked and Kaiiki looked around nervously.

“Holy Crap, look Tsuta!” She cried pointing out the window. Tsuta looked quickly and Kaiiki ran off. Tsuta blinked.

“Nothing is out there Kaiiki…” She muttered looking back to see her missing, “Damn it! I fell for that again!” She took off running after Kaiiki quickly.
