Note: State Standards have not yet been approved by the Arizona Department of Education so I have elected to use, in the meantime, the standards established by the National Council of Social Sciences.

Monday (Aug 14): Chapter 1 Review

NSS Objective:  NSS-USH.5-12.1 Understands comparative characteristics of societies in the Americas , Western Europe, and Western Africa that increasingly interact after 1450.

Instruction: Students will examine each of the sections in Chapter 1 and assess the writing to answer questions contained in their review guide. 

Assessment: Chapter 1 Test on Friday

Homework:   Finish Native American report/diorama (Due Tuesday).  Complete Chapter 1 review guide (Due Thursday)

 

Tuesday (Aug 15):  North American Peoples Presentations (Part 1)

NSS Objective:  NSS-USH.5-12.1 Understands comparative characteristics of societies in the Americas , Western Europe, and Western Africa that increasingly interact after 1450.

Instruction:  Students will demonstrate their own knowledge of their specific Native American tribe by giving a presentation in front of the class.  The listening students will write notes from the speaker’s presentation.

Assessment: Notes will be reviewed by instructor

Homework:  Complete Chapter 1 review guide (Due Thursday)

 

Wednesday (Aug 16): North American Peoples Presentations (Part 2)

NSS Objective:  NSS-USH.5-12.1 Understands comparative characteristics of societies in the Americas , Western Europe, and Western Africa that increasingly interact after 1450.

Thursday (Aug 17):  Chapter 1 review

NSS Objective:  NSS-USH.5-12.1 Understands comparative characteristics of societies in the Americas , Western Europe, and Western Africa that increasingly interact after 1450.

Instruction:  Instructor will go over the review guide to ensure correct answers.  Afterwards, the students will break down into teams of 2 or 3 to quiz each other.

Assessment:  Chapter 1 Test on Friday

Homework:  Study – Test on Chapter 1 is tomorrow!

 

Friday (Aug 18):  Chapter 1 Test

NSS Objective:  NSS-USH.5-12.1 Understands comparative characteristics of societies in the Americas , Western Europe, and Western Africa that increasingly interact after 1450.

Instruction:   Students will demonstrate their knowledge of early Americans and early civilizations by taking the Chapter 1 Test.

Assessment: Graded Chapter 1 Test

Homework:  Relax and have a nice weekend – you EARNED the rest!
