Comment: Mark was my brother and is very sorely missed. I have not been to this site in sometime because it is so hard to stop the tears, but at the same time it is a comfort to know that it is here and that his family and friends loved him so much. He was a very special person.

Comment: I was surprised to see the web page still up and running. Just thought I would click on the bookmark I have had in my address book for a couple years. Mark and I used to play pool on friday nights and he was such a fun guy to be around. There was never a dull moment and happiness could be felt surrounding the group he was in. He will be missed, I don't know why such a nice person has to leave us at such a early time in his life. You just don't meet people like Mark everyday. He was special to all of us.

Comment: We lived in the same neighborhood with Mark and his family when we first moved to Sunnyside. Had some great baseball games back then! About 10 years ago, I needed a friend and Mark was there for me. I will never understand why someone so special had to be taken from us so soon. His smile and his laughter will be forever missed.

Comment: Mark use to come in regularly to the office at the time (Empiregas). My sister (Sandy) and I also use to party with him from time to time. And Mark was on the same softball team as my brother Randy. At the softball tournament in Everett this year everyone knew that Mark was there with them watching over everyone. It still doesn't seem real and it's quite obvious Mark had a lot of people who loved him. Mark was a very genuine, sincere, sweet person and a lot of fun. It is a tragedy that this happened and I know he will be missed tremendously.

Comment: I was so sorry to hear about Mark's accident. He was such a great person. He played ball on the same team as my brother and I know everyone loved him and will miss him. God only knows why Mark's time came so early in his life. I guess there are just some things we are not suppose to understand.

Comment: Found out about Mark on the way home from vacation when I called my brother Bob Kellogg on Tuesday from Hermiston to tell him I would be coming through Sunnyside on Wednesday and would stop by. About fell off my chair when we were told of Marks untimely drowning. Was able to get so Sunnyside in time to say my peace with Mark and view his body for a good length of time. I though the service was very nice and a fine tribute. Met Mark through Scott Kellogg. The inseparable pair. Mark and Scott would come to Wenatchee or Seattle and play softball with us. Had known of Mark before the softball tournaments but not well. Got to know Mark over the next 10 years and want to share with you my feelings. Mark was the most sensitive kind, loving, helpful person I have ever met. He had all the favorable behavioral traits one works a lifetime to perfect. Being nice came natural to Mark. If I may take a line from the movie "As good as it gets." Knowing Mark has made me a better man. I know Mark lived life hard and to its fullest enjoying every minute. He probably got more out of his short 40 years than most do in an entire natural lifetime. I was not ready for Mark to leave. There was unfinished business here on earth for Mark and I just don't understand why God wanted him now. Must have been a very important game going on upstairs that Mark was called to play in. In time perhaps we will better understand what has happened.Right now I just don't understand.

Comment: My parents, Bill and Lisa Deruyter, asked him to make a sign for our dairy, View Piont Dairy, and he said it was one of his best signs. He was verry talented, and known by everyone. My big brother, BJ, was asking him about airbrushing, because he was going to try it, and Mark was nice enough to lend him, not one, but 2 books on air brushing, PLUS some paint and stencles, and some paper. The sum of what he gave to my brother, who is only 13, was about more than 20$ ! He was verry generouse, and very giving. My family and I only have good memorys of Mark, because he was never known to be mean, or greedy. Good-bye Mark!

Comment: When my sister Lorie married Greg, Mark came into our family as part of the package deal. What a wonderful bonus gift. He was there for it all.....birthdays, vacations, weddings, etc. He always entered the room with a great big smile, and he always left with one. I left Sunnyside after high school and hadn't seen much of Mark in the last 18 years. But it wasn't much of a surprise to me when he showed up on my ICQ list one day and acted like no time had passed at all. He left us with ENORMOUS standards for what a friend should truly be. He'll always hold a special place in my heart!

Comment: Mark has been a good friend since he and Scott played for my softball team in 1991. I believe Mark's presence and enthusiasm helped Team Scott win the Hummbabes softball tournament in June in Wenatchee. He will be missed greatly by our entire team. We will never forget him or Scott.

Comment: Mark has been a friend of mine for 13 years, and in those years we've had several great times: laughing, partying, and just having fun! It won't be the same without him, he will really be missed. In all the years I knew him, not once did I ever see him angry, and it takes a very special person to be that way. I will love you always...Kathy

Comment: When I lived in Germany I got a call from two guys in the middle of the night. I coulnd't hear them very well and kept asking whoever it was to speak up. I couldn't hear because they had called earlier and had my friends smear the reciever with vaseline. One of the mystery callers said we used to go to Mabton to pick up the Daily News in his beer bottle brown Camero. That was Mark. The other was John Newhouse. very funny. I loved asking him how a hair lipped dog barked...I know I know he would say...Mark! Mark!

We are so sorry for the loss of our friend. Mark was a super guy and a great friend. His smile would always make us smile, even if we were having a bad day. Comment: Losing Mark has been like losing a limb for us. We still feel like he's here, but we can't reach out and touch him. Our lives will be forever lacking without him. We still wake up every day with the hope that it's not real. We loved him so much.
