>>Baby Sliders

If you have gotten yourself a baby slider or you hatched one, you might want to know how to take care of it. New-borns have a yolk-sag on their bellies and egg-tooth. Refer here for hatching.
Baby sliders are more carnivorous than adult sliders, refer to feeding to find out what are some suitable food. Do not overfeed them or it might cause shell deform. They are in a brighter shade of green (like leaf) with distinct patterns on their shell when they are small and almost round in shape. The colour and patterns on their shell will darken as they grow older.
You cannot tell their sex until they are about 3 years or older. Take note of their health as they generally have weaker immune system compared to when they are older.
The aquarium set up is the same as here. But don't make the water too deep or they might drown.
Young sliders may be shy and like to hide. You can put some water plants or some sort of hiding place for them. Do not frighten them or they might get stressed. When they got used to the environment, they will come out to explore and they are highly active. Then you can more easily see their activities and let them feed from your hand. As their body is quite small, you can easily put them on your palm while holding the carapace to carry them about. Be gentle with them as the edge of their shell are usually not hardened yet.  Due to their small body size, they can easily be trapped between small gaps and get lost, so you must  keep an eye on them when you let them out to walk in the room or outdoor. They can also be easy prey for other animals.
Baby sliders are independent and need not have the care of it's mother turtle. Mortality rate of baby sliders is high if not properly cared for. Look out for diseases here. Be sure to look after them well!
