Note that the sort sequence for characters in the VIN is A to Z, then 1 to 9, and finally 0, with the letters "I", "O" and "Q" not normally used.

The specific codes for each assembly plant are set by the individual manufacturers.

Serial Number

The last six digits are the actual "serial" number. Some manufacturers restart at 000001 each model year, while others just continue sequentially. Others use different number groups for different models, and NABI even numbered every order from 000001!
