Introduction

Waterside Farm Sports Centre in Somnes Avenue is a large centre catering for a variety of sporting and leisure activities. Its facilities include two swimming pools, squash courts, sports halls, gym, tennis courts, netball courts and an athletics track. For more information telephone 01268 694342

Castle Point Sports Club for the Disabled

The club has been running for over 20 very successful years and currently has over one hundred members aged from 3 to 83! Membership is open to any disabled person and their family, or carer. Cycling

Canvey has several off road cycle routes to allow safe cycling for all. There is also a path around the sea wall, most of which is suitable for cycling.

Fishing

There are two clubs based on the island for those with angling interests -

    Horse Riding

    Although there is no riding school on the island there are several livery stables situated in Northwick Road and Haven Road. Grassy stretches along the sea wall provide good places to ride, but due to the island size places to hack are limited.

    Netball

    Rugby

    The Canvey Island Rugby Club is situated in Dovervelt Road. For more information telephone 01268 681881

    Walking

    A footpath runs right around the edge of the island offering views across the creek and towards Southend on the northern side of the island, and views of the Kent coastline from the south.

    Watersports

    Being an island, Canvey is ideally situated for watersports. Activities include sailing, wind surfing and jet skiing. For more information contact:
