Table of Contents                 Bessie's Map

Baltimore, Maryland

July 19, 2002
Baltimore is a lovely city with rich historical roots. Founded in 1729 by an act of the Provincial Assembly, Baltimore played an important role in the birth and development of our nation. Bessie was eager to visit because she heard about all the wonderful places to catch a bite to eat. Our day began at the Inner Harbor which is one of the main attractions for visitors to the city. The harbor has plenty of shops, restaurants, and live entertainment. Bessie was excited to see the USS Constellation which is the last all-sail warship built by the U.S. Navy and is also the only Civil War-era vessel still afloat. Next we took a stroll to the other side of the harbor where Bessie discovered the National Aquarium. She really wanted to go inside and see the 14,000 aquatic animals on display - especially the seahorses. We had other plans, however, and made our way to Camden Yards for a Baltimore Oriole baseball game. Oriole Park at Camden Yards is a beautiful ball park and Bessie was amazed at the view from the upper deck. She remembered the famous warehouse just past the outfield from watching games on TV. Bessie was hoping to see a home run hit the side of the warehouse during the game, but alas she had to settle for a blowout win by the home team.
