Toronto, Ontario

October 19, 2002
The city of Toronto is a wonderful place to visit. I understand that Canada has a reputation for being cold. Visiting in the middle of October does not help that image. Weather aside, Bessie had a great time! The first stop was at Casa Loma - an actual 95 room castle right in the heart of Toronto! Built in 1911 by a rich Canadian industrialist who was facinated by the medieval era, Casa Loma cost 3.5 million and 3 years to construct. Now a wonderful museum, Bessie really enjoyed the tour. You an see from the pictures that she got an amazing view of the city skyline, and got a little friendly with a suit of armor. Next stop was Eaton Centre, a huge shopping mall with over 365 shops and eateries. Bessie was amazed by the sheer size of the place. As you know, she loves to shop. It was all we could do to get her back outside. Finally, we took a stop at the CN Tower. Bessie, being afraid of heights was too cowardly to travel to the viewing deck, which is 1,120 feet up. For those of you who speak Canadian, that's 342 metres. The view from below was just fine for her!
