March 5, 2001 Our first stop in Florida was at the Busch Gardens theme park in Tampa. This enormous park boasts numerous major roller coasters as well as a zoo-like number of animals. Bessie thought she would really enjoy the pink flamingos (she loves watching the Miami Vice theme because of them) and was shocked when one of them charged toward her! Little did she know, flamingos and cows are mortal enemies. Well, now she knows. Next up was a ride on Gwazi, an enormous wooden roller coaster featuring two separate tracks woven together into one. You must choose which one you want to ride. But as the tracks intertwine, you really can't tell where you are going next. It was scary enough to make a flamingo attack seem welcome. Last stop brought an up front encounter with a gang of vultures. They were hungry and looking at us with a look that said, "Drop dead...please?" We got out of there pretty quick. One day in Florida and already Bessie was whining about how dangerous it was!
