Noble and Jim, 9/22/97
Noble Ragale, 7 pounds 11 ounces, 41 weeks, 21 1/2 inches. I was induced at 6:30 am on the 26th, of September, 1997. Waiting for the son I had always dreamed of since being a little girl and playing house. My world was shattered when after 18 hours of labor and 2 hours of pushing, I was rushed to the OR for an emergency C-section. At 12:54 am, on the 27th, Noble Ragale was born onto this earth, not breathing and with a heart-rate of only 5, he was rushed to the NICU. My first born had been deprived of O2 for over 30 minutes! he was in severe fetal distress for the last 2 hours of my labor. Apparently the OB and nurses did not pick up on his distress. The result was, Noble was hooked up to life support machines, and by 11am we were asked to make a choice. One of the hardest choice anyone ever has to face, especially with their child. We chose to let our son go, in the most peaceful, loving manner possible, in our arms. You see we could not even hold our son while he was on the life support machines, because the doctors feared he would have a heart attack, his body had just been through too much stress. My strong, brave son's heart beat for 2 hours off of the machines. He died in my arms after behing held by family and close friends. And just before his heart stopped beating, my angel smiled, smiled for his momma, as if to say we were doing the right thing. He smiled. :) | ||||||
