Class Philosophy
Comics need a place to go where the atmosphere is supportive. This class is the place. Instead of focusing on the negative, we focus on what the performer does well, and use that as the foundation to build a professional act.
This is a place to start your dream, and you are encouraged to dream big. No comedian who has ever “made it big” ever did so without believing they could. You could be next!!!
What Our Students Are Doing
Mike Irwin has been teaching and coaching stand-up comics since 1986. His former students have had their own specials on HBO, Comedy Central, and have appeared on all the major television networks.
Former students have won national comedy contests, gotten lead roles on Broadway, appeared on all major TV networks, and are behind the scenes as staff writers for shows on CBS, Fox, and the WB.
Every now and then, our alumni even pop up on Last Comic Standing, TV Commercials, Star Search, Law and Order and Hollywood Squares.
These are the possibilities. The rest is up to you.
Graduation Shows
All students get the opportunity to perform on stage in front of a live audience at the Glenville Saloon. Your friends and supporters will also be treated to a national headliner comedian as part of the show.
