The youth group of ARMENIAN
EVANGELICAL EMMANUEL CHURCH is a member of the Armenian Evangelical
Christian Endeavor Union of Syria and Lebanon.
The Executive Committee of the Armenian Evangelical Christian Endeavor
Union of Lebanon is the highest governing body, and it organizes
leadership training sessions and workshops, also retreats and camps for
both youth and young-adults.
In 1881, the Christian Endeavor movement was founded by Dr. Francis E. Clark in
his house, in Maine, USA. Its purpose is to lead young women and men to
live their Christian faith practically, through the many services, and
in whatever field of work they are. In addition, it aims to build these
young men and women so that they would fill the needs of the church and
become active members, who are faithful and service-oriented.
The mission statement of this
organization is, "For Christ and His Church."
The Christian Endeavor is first of
all a religious organization, second, its allegiance is only to the
Church, and third, it is youth-oriented.
The principles of the Christian
Endeavorer are:
-
Confession of Christ (Romans
10:9)
-
Service in Christ's Church
(John 12:26)
-
Loyalty to Christ's Church
(Romans 12:4, 5)
-
Fellowship with Christ's
People (1 John 1:3, 7)
Daily commitment is the key
discipline of an Endeavorer and is affirmed in a simple pledge.
-
To serve Christ and His
Church.
-
To listen to God's voice by
reading His word, and talking to Him through prayer.
-
To work in the church with
love and glee.
-
To witness for Christ in my
speech and with my life.
-
To choose and be a good
friend.
-
To love my people, and to work
for its prosperity.
