In the beginning of every Asterix comic..

The year is 50 BC. Gaul is entirely occupied by the Romans. Well, not entirely... One small village of indomitable Gauls still holds out against the invaders. And life is not easy for the Roman legionaries who garrrison the fortified camps of Totorum, Aquarium, Laudanum and Compendium.....

The Gauls fear nothing except that the sky may fall on their heads.

The comics were  written by Goscinny and drawn by Uderzo, Asterix has become a  world-wide best seller.

Asterix's comics were translated to 100+ languages.

The original English edition is translated by Anthea Bell and Derek Hockridge. Most of their translations are also available on the American market, except for about five books that were translated by Robert Steven Caron.

In every Asterix comics the story ends with a lavish banquet.
