April 1 through Dec. 31 for prizes. Well, we'll have to see who, if anybody, contributes.
Meanwhile, have fun!
What (glider)? Wills Wing Falcon, Moyes Ventura, Aeros Target,
Northwing EZY and any other single surface hang glider.
What tasks?: 1) Open, straight line distance; 2) out and back (at least half
way back -- thermal flight not ridge run) with miles multiplied by 1.3)
triangle (all the way back to start) with 1.5 multiplier. The "new" two
additional tasks were effective 08/01/02.
Where: All of the US as divided into 4 sections in an attempt
to make skill not site be the determining factor for the
winners plus the rest of the world as a single (at this moment)
World group due to some foreign entries.
Prizes will be awarded for all areas for all "classes".
West Coast (West of route 5, Regions 1, 2, 3)
West (Regions 1,2,3,4,& 5 east of route 5)
Central (Regions 6,7,& 11)
East (Regions 8,9,10, & 12)
And
"World"for the rest of the world. Yes, you can be the winner
in the "Falcon X-C Contest World Class". All entrants are
eligible for that title regardless of primary region entered.
**See the bottom for new (02/20/02) World class/division changes.
Why: Prizes generously donated to reward pilots who fly for
sheer enjoyment and go places. Prizes may be added at
any time by sponsoring dealers, schools or any interested party.
Who: Any Hang 2 and up. Pick the appropriate class to enter:
"Pro" (Hang 4), "Amateur" (Hang 3), or "Recreational" (Hang 2)
Towing? Yes with a maximum release altitude of 2000'.
How? Pre-registration is preferred and makes it easier for us (see forms below)
but if not --
1) Get landing witness for any XC flight. 2) Send us notification on the form below
of the flight within one week of the flight.
Submit all flights (within 1 week of flight). Who knows what will win?
Entry Fee? There is NO ENTRY FEE, but a self addressed
stamped envelope is required for any correspondence
requiring a return (i.e.: entry form etc.).
E-mail correspondence and entry forms are acceptable, in
fact, they are preferred.
Stupidity or unsafe behavior automatically disqualifies you.
Please no nit picking. This is for fun---serious fun.
