Love. It’s something we all search for. But did you know that the person who can fill your longings and yearnings for love most completely is already there, and just waiting for you to come to Him? I used to think that I was such a difficult person to love, and that no one would ever love me. But little did I know that I would find someone who would love me unconditionally, no matter what. This perfect, eternal, and unconditional love I found is in the Lord Jesus Christ. You too can know His love!!

I didn’t even know that I was a sinner. I thought that sin was only something REALLY bad, and that everything else was just a “little wrong”. But I found the truth that I am a sinner in God’s word. Romans 3:23 says “for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God,”. We all are sinners, it is human nature. But this sinful nature was not always human nature. When God first created man, He made him in perfect unity with the Lord. Man never sinned. But then we see that “...by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned,”(Romans 5:12). Sin came into the world when Adam sinned. We read of this in Genesis 3:1-7.

“VERSE 1: Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? VERSE 2: And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: VERSE 3: But the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. VERSE 4: And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: VERSE 5: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. VERSE 6: And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. VERSE 7: And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
So when Adam sinned, sin was brought into the world, and became human nature. As the Lord said in Genesis 2:17, if man ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, he will die. Why then you might be asking did not Adam and Eve die right away after eating? In the beginning, man was intended to live forever. When Adam and Eve ate the fruit which they were forbidden to eat, the Lord said that they will not die a physical death right away, but they will eventually, and moreover, they will die a spiritual death for their sins. This is the punishment for our sins. We deserve it, but God loves us so much, that he sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins so that we may have eternal life in heaven.

Jesus, who is God(John 10:30 states: “I and my Father are one.”) came down to earth , and left a glorious and perfect heaven to bear tribulation and suffering on earth. While he lived on this earth, Jesus was tempted by Satan, and he went through all the trials that we go through in our lives(yet not once did He sin). He did this because He loves us so much. But this is only the beginning. When Jesus died on the cross it was more than just the Roman government crucifying someone. The Lord Jesus Christ suffered greatly for us. He suffered humiliation as he was mocked by men(Matthew 26:67-68; Matthew 27:27-31; Matthew 27:39-44). He bore the sins of ever man on earth and every man that will ever live on earth and took them upon Himself. Because God is a perfect and holy(meaning separate from all sin) God, Jesus suffered being forsaken by His heavenly father when He bore our sins(Matthew 27:46). And for our sins, the perfect Lord Jesus was crucified. He suffered a pain that I do not even have the words to describe when he was on the cross...and He did it willingly, because He loves us so much. Through the shed blood of Jesus we can all be cleansed of our sins. Christ’s death offers us forgiveness for our sins. When we trust Him as our Lord and Savior, He gives us the gift of eternal life in heaven.

No one will ever have greater love for you than this. Jesus died for us. He gave Himself for us so that we may live. He suffered unspeakable pain and humiliation for us, even though he was perfect. And our perfect Lord was made sin for us(“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we may be made the righteousness of God in him.” -II Corinthians 5:21). Through His love we are forgiven from our sins, cleansed, and have eternal life. Once you have found His love, you will not need to search anymore, for He will never leave you. Please, if you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, don’t wait any longer. He loves you so much, and He wants you to trust in Him. You can know this unconditional love today!
