Many companies charge a fee based on 'per page'; but because we find that clients' needs are different for a variety of reasons (larger/smaller font, wide/narrow margins, single/double spaced), we find this kind charge is not beneficial for the client.
We also found that when paying a 'per hour' fee, clients may end up paying for slow typing; and there's no estimate for the client as to how long a project can take.
Instead, we charge a 'per-word' fee.
The typical page, with 1.5" side margins and double-spacing, averages 250 - 300 words ($2.50-$3.00/page); while the average single-spaced page runs from approximately 500-600 words ($5.00 - $6.00/page).
With our company, the charge is the same (based on word count) no matter what typesettings/margins you choose or no matter how long it takes us to get the project done.
