Final Fantasy X Source

In FFX, now whole game is made of 100% pure 3D graphics. From the past 3 Final Fantasy series in PlayStation had pre-rendered background, but now, by the support of PlayStation2, all environment including the background is made of 3D graphics. This makes the game more naturally and smoothly.

Voice Act
Now in FFX, a new feature has made, Voice Acting. All characters and people, including townsmen even a small child can talk lively to us. Each of them has their own unique voices and accent. Also this makes the game more realistic and beautiful. Facial Motion
An also new feature in this game, Facial Motion. Since the game has sharp graphics and precise faces of characters, they can show us their emotion and feelings by their faces. A lot looks we can see, Angry, Sad, Fear, and etc. This also applies to lip sinking too.

Active Field
The World Map and the world itself have changed a lot. Whole thing is continuous and the size of the environments is more realistic, or example, when you encountered a dungeon when you were walking on the plains, the entrance is right before you, instead of entering by small icons that represents the place like before. All places are located on the map itself instead icons. The mountains and oceans are now the real size. Like in real life, you have to look up to see the top of the high mountains, this occurs here the same. There are no more big mountains that are shown little. The angle of the camera is now fixed. You cannot change, however, the camera turns and sets to the best view.

Discard of ATB System
The last 3 installments of Final Fantasies had the ATB (Active Time Battle) system. Now in FFX, this system is discarded and new Turn-Taking Battle system is featured in FFX. Since the ATB system is dropped, the ATB gauge is not shown anymore in the battles.
Back to 3 party members in Battle
Only 3 party members can fight the battle. This feature is back from Final Fantasy IX, which could be used 4 characters, maximum. This feature can be very useful since controlling 4 party members makes the player too busy in sometimes.

New way to fight the Boss
Since PlayStation2 supports massive power, the Boss Battles have changed. Like before, when we encountered a Boss, we move to a new battle screen, but now instead we fight where we encountered the Boss. We don’t move to a new screen, the environment around you nothing changes. This called Seamless Battle.

Changing party members in the Battle
Now you can switch a party member who’s not participating the battle. Pressing L1 or R1 during the battle opens a window that shows the party members who are not fighting the current battle. Choosing on of them substitutes with the current party member who’s able to give command.

New AP System
After the Battle, you only gain APs in FFX. The EXP System is gone for now and APs are only used in Leveling Up. The APs you gained accumulates and at a certain point, it turns to S.Lv (Sphere Level). This S.Lv can be used in Sphere Board.

Sphere Board
A new Leveling Up system, Sphere Board has made in FFX. By using Sphere Board, raising characters have changed widely. Even every characters have their own job or field, this can be modified depending how you raise your characters; meaning Tidus, the main characters has Time Magic set in the very first part of the game, however, you can teach him White Magic which is impossible to learn naturally for him. Lulu, a Black Mage can learn White Magic, Yuna a White Mage can learn Black Magic. This can be useful since usually White Mages has low attack, you can teach them strong and offensive Black Magic. This can be applied to all characters. But unfortunately, Summoning cannot be learned by Sphere Board since there’s no Block that has Summoning and Yuna Batang">’s the only one who can Summon and the only one who’s a Summoner.
