Crenellated Tealight Holder

I wanted to make something for a special person who likes candles... I was inspired by the Bell Tower Candle and the Candy Castle. But I didn't have much time, only having seen the Bell Tower Candleholder the day before, so it had to be fairly simple!

9:30am - I already had a 3" ring glued up from the Castlemolds ® Turret Mold... so I mixed up a stiff batch of Durham's Water Putty and filled the bottom of the ring, which I put on wax paper.

I sprayed the tealight with silicone (for sealing grout) and squished it into the center... I had thought the putty would form a bottom, but it was too thin and fell out.

10:45am - Ready to paint!!!

Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of the base, but it sits on a terracotta tile leftover from a floor project. There is fabric underneath so it doesn't scratch furniture, and I glued the metal tealight holder in the center (with construction adhesive), so the tower slips over it! This way the castle is kept in place but there's quick access to the candle.

I put it in a warm oven (not the microwave this time) to speed up the drying. Then I primed it with black, dry-brushed with grey, and clear-coated it with polyurethane.

7:30pm - It's a hit!!
