Hungary

Please, no appetite jokes. I went to Budapest and the smaller Eger in this little Eastern European country. The people are nice, but there are a lot of people you might not want to be around (I was being unabashedly followed in the train station by some sort of amateur thieves and my friend sat watching a one-legged homeless man play with himself while staring at him). Budapest is like the New York of Eastern Europe. A bit slummy, but it has the most diverse population and consequently, shopping and eating in Eastern Europe. My favorite spot was the Citadella on the mountain in Buda. Eger was small-town Hungary at its best. It, too, is a bit on the slummy side. But it's definitely worth a look. It's got a castle, some cathedrals, and even a natural hot spring/bath (and yes, they'll rent you tiny speedos).
