POET'S CORNER

Imagine
by John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can...

No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one.

A Little Fellow Follows Me
(Author Unknown)

A careful man I want to be,

A little fellow follows me;

I do not dare to go astray,

For fear he’ll go the self-same way.

I cannot once escape his eyes,

What’er he sees me do, he tries.

Like me, he says he’s going to be,

That little chap who follows me.

He thinks that I am good and fine,

Believes in every word of mine;

The base in me, he must not see,

That little chap who follows me.

I must remember as I go,

Through summer’s sun and winter’s snow,

I’m building for the years to be –

That little man who follows me.

An Old Story
(Anonymous)

I did not even know him then,
That  friend of mine;

I did not even show him then,
One friendly sign;

But cursed him for the way he had,
To make me see;

My envy of the praise he had,
For praising me;

I could have rid the earth of him,

Once in  my pride!

I never  knew the worth of him,
Until he died.

Hopelessness

(c) 1996 by Adam James Morgan and Jesse James Morgan

How many people have faced hopelessness

And still continued to live?

How many have known death was near

And still faced it without fear?

Pickett's charge was a hopeless task,

Like defending the Alamo.

The Civil War sub sank thrice,

Sending its crew far down below.

Some have even faced death

And told their loyal friends,

"I go like a lamb to the slaughter ..."

What makes a person go on

When they see death calling,

                                  Calling them from the living?

Some will say it is courage,

Others will call it faith,

That can take you to the lion's den.

Others will say duty,

That is the supreme task of men.

Hopelessness is like death.

It sneaks up on you like the wind.

One may have little hope

In things of this world

And still persevere in pain,

With hope of greater things to come

Beyond the veil.

Frown Or Smile

(c) 2002, by James A. Tripp

Did you ever notice a little child

Who wore a frown instead of a smile,

And maybe you wonder why it should be

Was it because of you or me?

  Did he want money a toy to buy

 Or was it disappointment that made him cry,

 Maybe his pet got sick and died

   And he was confused, because he didn't know why.

  Maybe he had to work when he wanted to play

   Or perhaps it could have been a rainy day;

  Or was he punished for something he did

    Like not cleaning his room, like he said.

    If you see a child in this condition

     Give him a smile and get his attention.

    Tell him you love him and Jesus does too

      And the frown will go, and a smile will come through!

 You'll gain a  friend, a girl or boy

   They'll not forget you for you gave them joy.

 Give it a try, it will help you  too

   Because Jesus loves you and children too.
