Easter Eggs:
On the date of the signing of the contract between MS and BF for Zoo Tycoon (Sept. 15), a biplane with the Microsoft logo will fly across the map pulling a banner with the Blue Fang logo. This will happen as long as a guest enters the zoo on that date.
A Witch appears on Halloween.
Santa appears on Christmas.
Make the grizzly bear escape by renaming it to Deer.
Build an exhibit with a male lion, a male tiger and a male black bear to get the yellow brick road.
Build an exhibit with 2 ostriches, gazelles, zebras and wildebeest to get a prize award plus a boost to guest happiness.
Penguins are capable of killing pretty much any animal in the zoo.
When penguins reach a happiness rating of 90+, they will dance.
Guests entering the zoo on game date of January 1 will be sick.
If your computer date is:
Oct. 31 all new and old buildings and guests will change to orange and black. A flying witch will appear a few times, Jack-o'-lantern is unlocked for that day.
Dec. 25 snowman and Christmas tree are unlocked for that day. Santa will fly across the map.
Sept. 15 A Microsoft biplane with a blue fang flag.
Misc:
Pressing $ (Shift+4) will give you 10,000 bucks but the drawback; it damages fences. Add the money at the very beginning before you start building so that there are no fences to deteriorate.
Ctrl+F disables foliage for you to see your zoo better. Helps you to find all the trampled terraine.
Ctrl+G turns off the grid.
To get more money put 10 different animals in the same exhibit.
Try this trick for increased guest happiness if you're having trouble finishing a level and need to get it up higher. The official Zoo Tycoon guide by Sybex states to keep the guests happy you must keep the zoo beautiful, keep prices low, provide numerous attractions ie (4 animal theatres, 5 japanese gardens, 6 petting zoos and 286 carousels ) It also says group 4 different animals together in one cage (boosts guests happiness to see different species together) savannah animals are good for this. Also, don't crowd the guests out thats a major blow to their happiness, make your paths at least 2 squares wide. Dont sell baby animals, wait until they are adults to sell them, guests get big boost happiness seeing baby animals. It also states to build a nice path and line it with decorative fencing (guests love this and it will boost guest and zoo ratings)
Another way to get rid of those hungry guests is to break open one of your tiger cages and let a tiger on the loose (fire the zookeepers/caretakers first)... it dramatically reduces your zoo rating (and causes a hilarious scene of screaming guests), so don't wait until the last few months before doing this. As for the guest rating, it drops a bit to the high 60s or sometimes the 70's. You'll have to add in a lot of scenery items to boost the guest rating quickly though. Don't do this technique near the end of your scenario you'll lose for sure because you won't have enough time to get your ratings back up. After you do this raise the price of your entrance fee to something outrageous to keep away the guests that will come if you leave it low and then you'll just have to get the guests who are left to increase their happiness.
Dino Digs Cheats
Dr. Frankenstein: name a scientist this and there is a 10% change that your dinosaur egg will change into a whole different species.
Chuck Frizelle: male Zoo Keeper renamed this will double Zoo Marketing
Susan Kittleson: female Zoo Keeper renamed this will double Zoo Marketing
Dr. Scholl: name a scientist this and your scientists will move/work alot faster
The Rock: renaming maintenance worker 1 to this will turn all your scenery into rubble. This happens also with all the animal shelters with the exception of the Dino Cave and the Dino Ice Cave.
Super Croc: rename an exhibit this and you will unlock the deinosuchus.
rpro: renaming a male guest to this will cause every female who passes him to run away screaming.
Ron Propst: name a guest this and unlock DD foliage.
Dinoman: name a guest this and unlock DD animals.
Eggman: name a scientist this and your dino eggs will hatch as soon as a scientist checks them.
Coprolite Corner: get fossillized dino excrements IF there is dino poo in the exhibit when you rename it.
Comet: rename a reindeer this and all your dinos will disappear.
MARINE MANIA CHEATS
Change the name of a male guest into
Stinky: people will puke when the stinky guest passes them!
Boogyman: kids will get scared when he passes them!
Yellowman: he will get a yellow t-shirt as well as every guest he passes.
Redman: same as yellowman cheat except shirts will be red.
Place a Mermaid Statue inside a tank exhibit and watch the statue break apart and a mermaid appear. (I figured this one out by accident. I was reading one of the zoo tycoon forums and kept seeing references to a mermaid in the game. I couldn't find her so I built an exhibit and dropped in a mermaid and VOILA! there she was.)
