Show details:
Attended With: Rusty, the Monkey. First showgoing experience with that kid, and 3rd row to boot.
Venue: Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro NC.
Opening Act: St. Somewhere, which, oddly enough, was a Buffett cover band. Funny thing is, they sounded EXACTLY like the original, which had people holding cell phones up to the stage and dancing up a storm.
Highlights: Wow, what wasn't a highlight. The lot scene pre-show was killer, starting with the guy dressed as a shark who was trying to ride the outside of a schoolbus, continuing to the 10 year old with the "I drove to this city to see your titties" sign, and right on to the collage of fat suits, grass skirts, and really drunk people that make up a Buffett lot. The actual show wasn't bad either. Buffett, despite advancing age, is still capable of going on for three plus hours, and he hit the usual standards (One Particular Harbor, Margaritaville, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Son of a Sailor, Fins, etc) and played some of his new stuff, which rocked. Last Man Standing in particular. I also fell in love with one of his two dancers, who paraded around in an angel/devil outfit, and a schoolgirl getup, but now I've forgotten her name, so I guess it's over.
Lowlights: I don't think there really were any, that had to do with the show. The huge amount of people my parents age that were really drunk and acting like middle schoolers might have been a drawback, and high five guy, who would turn around, punch me or Rusty in the chest, and make us give him dap, were probably the only lowlights.
