Well I finally decided that I needed to create a webpage to share some of my compositions with the world at large.
So...here it is...such as it is. For now this site is under a bunch of construction but will do for now.
Professional Biography:
Mr. Jones is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in the fields of Music, Education, and Mass Communications. Mr. Jones was appointed Director of Bands at Eastside High School in Gainesville, Florida in 2007 where his teaching responsibilities include Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble, Keyboard, Music Appreciation, and Percussion Ensemble, Instrumental Techniques,and String Orchestra.
Prior to his appointment at Eastside, Mr. Jones was an active musician at the University of Central Florida performing on Saxophone, Bassoon, and Piano. He participated in the UCF Marching Knights as well as the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Orchestra, and the Jammin' Knights Pep Band. David has studied saxophone under Dr. Jon Hand, Kenneth Blanchard, and Dr. George Weremchuk. David has also studied Composition under Dr. Stella Sung and Dr. Robert Brownlow. He has composed and arranged several pieces ranging from solos to small ensembles as well as compositions for full concert band and has had several of his pieces performed publicly. Mr. Jones has also arranged several pieces for the Eastside Marching Band.
While attending UCF, David was one of two recipients of the Whitehouse Scholarship for Achievement in Composition. He has also been awarded the President’s Award from the Opera Club of the Villages for his Piano Composition, Green Eyes, and is a two-time recipient of the Ocala Civic Theatre Instrumental Music Award for Composition and Performance. In 2003, Mr. Jones was invited to perform with classical/jazz pianist Lenny Wilson as part of a “Sounds of Piano” concert series.
Mr. Jones has performed extensively with the Kingdom of the Sun Concert Band, performing on both Alto and Baritone Saxophones. During his time with the Kingdom of the Sun, Mr. Jones had the honor of performing with such notable artists and conductors as Harry Waters, Arnold D. Gabriel, COL, USAF (Ret.), Marcia Muncaster, and Dr. Robert Springs. David is also a founding member of the Ocala Youth Symphony, having held the position of Principal Bassoonist as well as returning as a Guest Conductor. He has also performed extensively with several saxophone ensembles, including the UCF Saxophone Ensemble and the Sax Appeal Saxophone Quartet, both on Baritone Saxophone. He has also been a substitute performer for the Southern Express Jazz Band. Mr. Jones is a Past President of the UCF Saxophone Collegium. His professional affiliations include Florida Music Educators Association, Florida Bandmasters Association, Music Educators National Conference, Florida Orchestra Association, United States Achievement Academy, and Kappa Kappa Psi.
