On 13.10.01 50,000 people protested in Berlin
against the US-led attack on Afghanistan, Darnell Stephen Summers spoke at a
Rally at the Brandenburger Gate and then he and the "Just Say NO" Posse performed at the main Rally(Gendarmenmarkt)………
Hello, My name is Darnell Stephen Summers and I'm a
member of the "Viet Nam Veterans against the War" and the "Stop
The War Brigade". The VVAW-AI is an organization that had its beginnings
during the Viet Nam War. Literally thousands of soldiers stepped forward during
and after their time in the service to actively protest America's War on
Southeast Asia. This was a powerful signal to the rest of the world that
soldiers could and would act to demonstrate solidarity with the oppressed
peoples of the World and that they would actively fight against the policies of
their own government to realize that goal. That struggle took many forms;
sabotage, desertion, refusal to obey orders, and mutiny which in the end ,
together with the international anit-war movement crippled the U.S. military
machine and forced them to admit defeat and go to the negotiating table. The
very reason I stand here before you today is because of the just struggle that
these soldiers waged. In 1971 1,000 soldiers & veterans gathered in
Washington D.C. and marched on the Capitol building and threw their medals over
the barricade and onto the steps. It was a great day and a salute to all those
who dared defy the Government and who wanted to end the criminal slaughter.
There have been many wars since I was in uniform and most of these wars were
actively planned and financed by the U.S. with the sole purpose of securing its
role as number one Super Power.
The Soviet invasion of Afghanistan laid the
foundation for a proxy war that 
ultimately led to the defeat of the so-called Red Army
and the installation of the Taliban which was funded and trained by the U.S.
The Soviet Union went bankrupt, financially and politically, disintegrated and
when the smoke cleared only the U.S. was left standing. Iraq, Iran, Panama,
Haiti, Kosovo, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Chechnya, the list is long. America
& its alllies spread their bloody hands over the whole world seeking to
feed their wasteful system maintaining that it needs most of the world's
resources to keep the world safe for democracy. Billions must suffer so that a
few hundred million can live in security and relative luxury.
In 1990 the STWB was founded by active duty
soldiers, reservists and veterans from all armies and conflicts to protest the
Gulf War. Many Soldiers refused to fight and were threatented and jailed. But
that didn't stop us, because hundreds of soldiers stepped forward and said no.
During this time many people from the Green Party offered assistance to the
anti-war movement because they were part of the anti-war movement. There was no
lack places of refuge for deserting soldiers and office space for organization
and coordination. Today, under the leadership of Joschke Fisher and his War
Cabinet this party has lost all of its credibility. All of the anti-war
resources that were available thru the Green Party no longer exist. The
pacifist character has evolved into a militarist one. The Green Party is a war
Party. There is no other way to formulate it. Sell-out, sold-out. Just so they
can sit and grin in that Circus they call the Bundestag.
Today in Germany and around the world hundreds of
thousands of people are taking to the streets and expressing their outrage at
the attack on Afghanistan. The are telling the U.S. and its allies not to make
war on defenseless men, women, and children. They are demanding that they no
longer suck the planet dry under the pretext of progress and mutual gain and
that they stop polluting the world with their bombs , missiles and lies. The
worlds most powerful nation economically & militarily is terror-bombing one
of the poorest nations on earth. Why? How can that be? They say that they're
fighting terrorism, but the first thing they do is to destroy the peoples power
and water supply. That's nothing new because the U.S. rained millions of liters
of Agent Orange on Viet Nam. American bombers dropped more bombs on Viet Nam
than in all of WWII. Now many of you out there in the crowd will remember many
nights of U.S. & British terror-bombing and what that means and its very
important that you are here today.
Colin Powell, U.S. Secretary of State, said
that the Viet Nam war was justified and that he fought on the right side. Well,
that is also the position of the SPD, the CDU and the Green Party. They want to
turn reality on its head. They want to portray America as a defender of Freedom
and Justice. The opposite is true. The U.S. and its allies, yes that includes
Germany have supported an assortment of governments which can only be described
as brutal and criminal.
The whole pack together sell all of the
weapons that plague the world today and then they cry about not making enough
money on AIDS medication trying to block poorer countries from manufacturing
their own. The U.S. shows its real face every day. What about Kyoto?. The
international Conference on Racism? There were no-shows.
Who is responsible for the tragedy at the WTC
and who should be punished? Good Question. Considering my own experience and
the history of the U.S., the finger points directly at America and its friends.
Lets Look at this coalition. A collection of petty dictators & thieves.
There's not one of these countries which doesn't have one scandal or another.
We all know that it's true. Everyone in it has something to hide, something to
lose. Many of these countries are cracking down on all opposing views taking
the lead of America either suspending all rights or moving to do so. There are
no demos allowed in Uezbekistan where american forces are poised to strike.
They want a war to cover their own tracks, to hide in their own shadow, to hide
in the gunsmoke. They say Bin Laden is no Robin Hood, guess what, neither are
they. Bin Laden is a junior partner in the scheme of things. They run the whole
show and don't like competition. This is a classic example of a dog chasing its
own tail.
We have work to do and just like them we need
to be organized. Just like them we 
need to forge alliances but with one critical and
significant difference. Our Solidariy should and will be based on principle and
with real justice the goal. We won't talk about accepting the lesser of two
evils. We'll show both of those evils to the door. Goodbye.
They are now calling on the Taliban army to desert,
good idea, just add your soldiers to the list. We call on all of them all to
desert, yes even the cannon fodder of the Western Armies and their handfull of
lackeys. Make no mistake the phones are ringing and soldiers are looking for a
way out of this madness, this march to death. The STWB is committed to helping
them find their way and assist them in whatever way is appropriate. Where do
you stand?
Now. There is a report that Donald Rumsfeld,
the U.S. Secretary of Defense, has left open the question of using Nuclear
Weapons in this war during questioning at a recent press conference. Let me
read part of an article that reported on the press conference:
The Tactical Nuclear weapon.
"Is this in the American Military's
plans? According to a report of the online Magazine "Wired", the
American Military does not rule out the use of so-called tactical nuclear
weapons. The follow-up question of a journalist at the Pentagon press
conference as to whether or not the use of this type of weapon had been ruled
out was avoided by (Secretary of Defense)Rumsfeld. The U. S. Army has a bomb
with the designation B61-11 at its disposal in its war against the Taliban
Miltia and the Al Qauda Terror Network. The bomb is designed to deliver its
full explosive power into the ground. As a result of a so-called double shock
wave effect, the explosive power of the 1200 lb. Bomb is vectored downward and
can destroy everything that is hidden in the earth up to a depth of several
hundred meters. The "Defense News" reported, that the explosive force
of he B61-11 is rated at 300,000 tons of TNT. The B61-11 is also stockplied in
Germany. The bomb can be dropped by B2 bombers as well as F-16's. According to
a report of "Greenpeace", the U.S. has over 500 B61-11 bombs
stockplied in Many european countries including Germany."(German-English

The Handwriting is on the wall. What more
must be said and done for people to understand their intentions.That means they
are thinking about using them just as they have used them before on Hiroshima
& Nagasaki. We will oppose all of their War plans. We will stop them
