Doves greet the Day

This is a watercolour painted at the Homewood - a psychiatric hospital - where I was an inpatient from November 22,1999 until January 28, 2000.

Prior to admitting myself for the Core program - recovery from depression - I had never held a paintbrush in my hand.

I believe that nothing - absolutely nothing - happens in God's world by mistake. I believe that He wanted me to be in the Homewood so that I could not only renew my relationship with Him, but also to discover the new and exciting talents that had lain dormant for decades. This milieu allowed me to be away from the daily grind in order that I may tap into what had been created in me when He made me. I was able to realize beyond a shadow of a doubt that He was the Wind beneath My Wings. There was no more hiding in the shadows. It was time to have sonlight on my face. I had been going around in my haze of depression, but He had other plans for me. Plans that would let Him show, through me, that His love is everpresent and abidingly faithful.
