Lonnie Hoppers is a former member of
"Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Boy's"
This is one great bluegrass band!

Lonnie Hoppers, a Missouri Ozarks native, started playing banjo at the age of 14, and by the time he graduated from high school he had aquired a full time job playing banjo for the Ozark Opry at the Lake of the Ozarks, the first tourist attraction area in Missouri.

Lonnie served time in the Army in the late 50's, & when his tour of duty was over he joined Bill Monroe as one of the Bluegrass Boys. He was fortunate enough to record 12 songs with Bill including 'Baker's Breakdown', and 'Big Sandy River'.

After leaving Monroe, Lonnie returned to the Kansas City area, met & started performing with a young guitar player named Dan Crary. Lonnie & Dan developed a new style of bluegrass, performing shows in the midwest for approximately 10 years.

Lonnie returned to the Ozarks again in 1978 to perform at Branson's Silver Dollar City, where he gained a lot of recognition for his talent, & style of playing. He performed at other Branson theaters, & at Shepherd of the Hillsoutdoor drama. Lonnie also performed in movies that were made in Branson. He has also performed in national TV commercials. Recently Lonnie and the New Union appeared as guests on the only national and internationally telivised traditional bluegrass TV show, The Cumberland Highlanders Show
which is aired three times a week on THE OUTDOOR CHANNEL He left Branson in the late 80's to pursue his love of bluegrass music and to renew old friendships with bluegrass entertainers he had performed with in the past.

LONNIE HOPPPERS on Banjo
Lonnie started playing banjo professionally at the age of 17, as an original member of the Ozark Opry, at the Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. From there he performed with such notables as Bill Monroe, as one of the Bluegrass Boys, Dan Crary, and the Green side Up band. He played at Silver Dollar City for 6 seasons, & other Branson shows. Now he has formed "Lonnie Hoppers & New Union" with the following members.

BOB LOVETT on Rhythm Guitar
Bob handles the rhythm guitar duties, & does almost all the lead singing. Bob has a beautiful voice, and sings all parts. He loves singing the old traditional songs of Bill Monroe, the Stanley Brothers and Flatt & Scruggs, and a wide variety of other material. Bob's fine vocal work is featured on New Union's latest project 'Grass Hoppin'.

D.G. Lynch on Mandolin
D.G. has been playing traditional bluegrass for many years, and does all the mandolin picking for New Union. We're sure you will enjoy D.G.'s traditional style of playing.

Larry Sledge on Bass
Good solid timing & punch is a must in bluegrass music, and Larry holds up his end of that job in fine fashion on the upright bass fiddle. Larry and Lonnie played together in a band at Silver Dollar City for 4 years. Larry is a fine musician, & a good friend.

Kelly Jones on Fiddle
Kelly has been playing for many years, & is one of the midwest's greatest, & most respected fiddle players. He has won several fiddle championships. He also sings baritone with the band. We're proud to have Kelly with New Union.

Lonnie Hoppers and New Union has a new CD out and The gospel song 'One More Hill' on the CD stayed on the Bluegrass Gospel Charts for 12 months, reaching the #4 spot in June 2001. This is one solid bluegrass band.
