Rebecca is thrilled to be joining this company of Phantom after playing the role in both the Broadway company and the US National Tour. As a lyric coloratura, she has been praised for performances such as Monica in The Medium, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, Madame Goldentrill in The Impresario, Rapunzel in Into the Woods, Adina in The Elixir of Love, and Johanna in Sweeney Todd. In addition to her operatic and theatrical performances, she has appeared as a soloist in works such as Carmina Burana, the Mozart Requiem and Haydn's The Lord Nelson Mass. She graduated with a BM from Baldwin Wallace College and a GPD from the Peabody Institute, where she studied with Phyllis Bryn-Julson. She is also an alumna of the Pittsburgh Opera Center at Duquesne where she performed Lisette from La Rondine, Papagena in The Magic Flute and Mary Warren in The Crucible. In 2003 Rebecca took 6 months off from singing to become certified as a Bikram yoga teacher. Thanks to all of her family and friends for their love and support, but especially her husband Patrick. Namaste!
TIDBITS:
To help all of you understand how Rebecca came about having the performing ability she possesses, I will share with you a little of her background which Jim Pitcher (Dad) so graciously provided to me.
Both Pam (Mom) and Jim are trained musicians. Pam teaches private voice in the perparatory department of Baldwin-Wallace College. This is the very same college from which Rebecca, Pam and Jim all received their degrees. Rob (brother of Rebecca) graduated from Augustanna College in Rock Island, Ill. He wanted to show his independence and go away to school. Originally his major was political science in preparation for pre-law. That changed, and we Phans are all the better for it--now perhaps we will have the opportunity to see him perform.
Pam also sings with the Cleveland Opera Company and solos as a mezzo soprano in the Cleveland area. Jim is presently the principal at Center Middle School in Strongsville, Ohio. He is also the musical director for a local community chorus--The Southwest Community Chorus in Berea and also solos in the Cleveland area. Jim adds-- "When the kids were in school, high school and college, we would sing at local churches during the summer." He goes on to say, "Rob and I are both tenors, but for this I sang bass/baritone."
Yes, it's true, the world's a stage and thanks to her Folks, Rebecca is very well rehearsed. Who knows where all of this will lead--but for now I say--"It's on with the show--break-a-leg, Rebecca, we love you!!!
