The 1997 Halloween Foosball Tournament

On October 27, 1996, The tradition continued. The second annual Halloween Foosball tournament took place from the same location as the first one in "The Barn" This year Jim set out to make up for the mistake he made in 1996, while Greg looked to repeat. However one of the bigger stories was Steve establishing himself as a true Foosball competior.

The tournament consisted of 14 competitors, they were Greg, Jim, Steve, Pat, Jon, Brice, Billy, Paul, Nicky, Amanda, Sean, Keith, Gina, and the almost legendary Chuck. The first round matches were as follows: (Greg and Jim got byes)
Chuck vs. Paul
Nick vs. Amanda
Billy vs. Shawn
Steve vs. Brice
Keith vs. Gina
Patrick vs. Jon

first round: Greg and Jim both just watched on as the other 12 participants competed in the first round. Chuck won in his second Halloween Foosball match, defeating the younger brother of Billy, Paul. Nicky beat Amanda. Billy defeated Sean as he was one of the youngest competitors ever. Steve defeated Brice, getting his first foosball win, on what would turn out to be a pretty good night for Steve. Keith beat his sister Gina, in a game to decide which Ouellette sibling would join Greg in the second round. And speaking of siblings, Patrick beat Jon again.

second round: Jim and Greg both entered the action in round two. Jim faced one of his rivals in Patrick, prior to the match, Jim claimed he dedicated the match to all cats everywhere after Patrick made insluting comments about them. Jim defeated him easily. That marked Pat's third loss in 2 years. Greg beat Chuck, putting an end to Chuck's claims that he would win it all. Nicky faced Billy, and Billy showed some promise in his victory over the 98 finalist. Steve defeated Keith in a match probably billed as "the battle of the little brothers." semi-finals: Greg faced Billy and moved on. Greg's skill and experiance was just too much for Billy to overcome. Steve, however shocked everyone by upsetting Jim, and moving on to a finals match vs. Greg. Outside interference including annoying microphone work by Jon Casserly are some of the excuses that were used....

The championship: Steve vs. Greg. The Fans were entirely on Steve's side for this match.... With one of the loudest cheering sections in the history of sports, Steve went into the match looking for an upset. But Greg faced the hostile audience and survived....winning the game by a score of 10-5 to secure his second Halloween Foosball Tournament championship.
