What is Chiropractic?

Many people associate the word "chiropractic" with low back problems. Although back problems do indeed constitute a large portion of a chiropractor's practice, chiropractic is defined as a health care service that emphasizes the structural integrity of the body, and concern for those health disorders related to the spine and nervous system. In other words, chiropractors work with the spine (from head to pelvis) to correct not only spinal misalignments but also to affect the nerves which go from the spine to all other areas of the body.

First, the doctor will listen to you. He will take a thorough health history so he understands not just the symptoms but also the underlying causes of your health problems. At York Chiropractic Health Center, asking and answering questions is part of every doctor/patient relationship. Next, the structure of your frame will be examined. This is a simple, comfortable check of your spine, posture, and body alignment. If Dr. Donatello feels you will respond to chiropractic care he will accept you as a patient and proceed with a Report of Findings. If he does not feel he can help your condition he will refer you to the appropriate physician. In your Report of Findings you will learn what is out of alignment in your body and what type of treatment will bring you back to health. If your body is out of alignment you need to make a series of short appointments. By applying precise pressure, warm packs, and other comfortable techniques, Dr. Donatello can retrain your body back to a more healthful position. Last year over 94% of his patients improved under his care.
