Songs of Truth and Judgment was released November 19 2002!
For those just tuning in, the previous description of the Songs of Truth and Judgment project has been left intact. Songs of Truth and Judgment consists of 11 dramatic songs (9 vocal, 2 instrumental) for mixed voices (solos, duets, trio, choir) and a rock band (guitar, keyboard, bass, and drums). All of the songs are based on familiar (and favorite) biblical stories/events. Most of the lyrics are direct from holy scripture (both new and old testament), some are original or interpreted. Stylistically, the music overlaps several genres including: rock, metal, jazz, and classical. Overall, most will find the music very accessible. In all it's accessibility however, the music never dilutes itself or the meaning of the lyrics in an effort to be more "radio-ready". Yes, there are "beautiful" and quite "singable" melodies in this work, but much of it is bold and quite poignant. To be sure, there is a lot more prog-rock here than pop-rock. To Waldon's hard core jazz/rock fans this project may appear to be a drastic musical departure from my previous instrumental CDs and well, it is! Fear not, however, some of the songs in this work represent some of Waldon's best writing and even though by definition this is a vocal showcase, you can rest assured in the fact that the guitar's role in this work is second only to the vocals;) Click here to read more about Songs of Truth and Judgment. |
The Christmas CD Verbum Caro is now available! This recording is a blend of progressive electric arrangements (electric guitar, bass, and drums) together with more traditional arrangements for flute and classical guitar. For more details visit the music page. | As of August 2003, most of the tracks have been completed for what would have been the fourth of Waldon's CDs (just a few solos and bass tracks remain to be fininshed). However, in the interest of releasing the Christmas CD before Christmas, the release of this CD will happen sometime in early 2004. New for this recording project is sax master Greg Koltyk, who laid down some blisterin' tracks back in July.
This CD will consist of 10 songs, 8 instrumentals and 2 Christian vocal numbers (vocalist Ray Roberts of Songs of Truth and Judgment fame joins Waldon again for these with his always exciting interpretations). As usual, this CD will cover quite a bit of ground stylistically; everything from quasi smooth jazz to skull crushing fusion. Stayed tuned to read the latest updates regarding the progress of yet another CD of sonic delight by Waldon Reed, Jr. |
