MY AMAZING SON

Joe

I have an amazing son,
No, he cannot jump, he cannot run;
He has trouble trying to talk,
And many times, he cannot walk.

But Joe can and has done many things,
He can make one laugh until ears ring;
He knows how to love like no other,
Many lessons he has taught his mother.

Joe doesn't cry over his lot in life,
Even though his days are filled with strife;
He keeps plugging along each day,
When he really wants something, he finds a way.

Joe's health declines every day,
But he doesn't complain, has little to say;
He fights for independence, this man,
I guess you can tell I'm his greatest fan.

He taught me about love, patience and strength,
He taught me life is not about length;
He's not very big, this son of mine,
Unless you see his heart for it shines.

I truly believe one day he will see,
The King of Kings and with Him he'll be,
And then we will see him praise the Lord,
He'll sing songs, run and never be bored.

In this son, God gave me a gift,
A child who gave my strength a lift;
In heaven he will see his dad,
No more of his suffering will make me sad.

But, while he is still here with me,
I want his life to be all it can be;
I want to see him laugh and smile,
And know I've loved him quite a while.
