Forgotten mother top

Yesterday, which was Mother's Day, I kept thinking about all the mothers who had been forgotten. They received no visits, no phone calls, no cards, no gifts.....nothing to show appreciation for all the years of giving that she has done.  Many of these mothers live in nursing homes. It made me cry and thus was written, "Forgotten Mother."

A mother's heart is filled with love,
For those that she has given birth;
She will do what's right for them,
If it means combing the earth.

But then her children are all grown,
They fly the nest and they are gone;
She continues to watch; continues to pray,
She thinks of them from the rising dawn.

She does not always understand,
How they can forget so quickly;
The sacrifice and the joy she gave,
The price she paid when they were sickly.

She tries to support and to help them now,
And never to get in their way;
But her heart is slowly breaking,
Tears flow silently as she prays.

She knew her children were on loan,
She knows they belong to God;
But she didn't expect to be ignored,
She thought she was the connecting rod.

If you have a mother who loves you,
Who has given you a life;
Don't forget her -- Call her,
Don't cause her any strife.
