There's a hush in this stable,
Only the cooing of a babe;
The cow and the donkey
Stand munching on the hay.

Silently a man
Slips into the scene;
He reverently kneels,
Kneels before his king.

He's dressed in red,
His hat in his hand;
Before this wee child,
He cannot stand.

As he bows his head
He knows the reason;
For gaiety and joy
On this festive season.

He knows that this boy,
Is one so very holy;
He gives Him his heart-
Gives it to Him wholly.

Though the children watch for Santa,
On this Christmas Eve;
He knows they need his Lord,
For He will never leave.

Santa quietly kneels
By the manger and prays,
That the child, Lord Jesus
By his side will stay.

As we celebrate and cheer
During this special season;
Remember in your heart,
That Santa knows the reason.
