During the Salem Witch Trials, the daughter of Andrew and Faith (Ingalls) Allin, Martha Carrier, was hanged (19 AUG 1692) based partly on testimony from Allin Toothaker (daughter Mary's son). In 1689, this same Martha Carrier was accused of bringing small pox to Andover.

From Tom Ramsey's Website (link below):

"Mary Toothaker was examined by John Hawthorne on 30 July 1692. She said that she feared the Indians so much that she had made a pact with the Devil to protect her. Of course knowing how the Witchcraft Trials were conducted, the confession was either fabricated or coerced, though she probably did greatly fear the Indians. The area had been attacked by the Indians numerous times in the preceding few years. Her and her daughter Margaret stayed in prison. Two days after the examination the Indians attacked Billerica, burning the vacant Toothaker house. At the end of January 1693 the were freed and went back home to the burned out house.  Mary Toothaker went on helping sick people. Martha Carrier was condemned and hanged as a witch, on the testimonies of many people, including Roger Toothaker's son Allin. This family again suffered in the Indian massacre of Billerica of 5 August 1695. Mary Allin Toothaker was killed, and daughter Margaret was captured by the Indians, never to be seen again."

Donna Valley Russell, "Roger Toothaker Of Plymouth, Massachusetts, and Some Descendants," The American Genealogist 69.1 (Jan. 1994): 1-7.

"Roger's wife Mary was also involved in the witchcraft business. On 1 May 1692, based on charges made by Mary Warren and Mary Ireson, wife of Benjamin, against 'Docter Tootheker's wiff,' stating she had attempted to persuade them to touch the [Devil's] book on threat of death (Essex Arch. Witchcraft 2:55 in 'Salem Witchcraft Papers,' 3:765), Mary was examined by the Magistrates on 30 July 1692, shortly after Roger's death. She stated that she thought that the Devil had inhabited her body two years earlier, preventing her from prayer, and even after her baptism, she was convinced she was a witch. She described the Devil as a 'tawney man' who promised that if she served him she would be protected from the Indians. She made a mark on a piece of birch bark, but did not sign the Devil's book, and continued to proclaim her innocence because she believed in God. She stated furth that her husband had told his daughter 'to kill one Button, a reputed witch.' ('Salem Witchcraft Papers,' 3:767-69). Again on 31 January 1692/3, Mary Toothaker of Billerica, widow, was indicted to answer the charge of having made a covenant with the Devil by marking a piece of birch bark (Suffolk Co. Court Rec., case #2713, p. 50, in 'Salem Witchcraft Papers,' 3:770). The Devil did not protect Mary, however as she was killed, and her daughter Margaret captured, on 5 August 1695 in an Indian attack at her home in Billerica on the Concord River ('Billerica Hist.,' 131)."
