Family Honor



Hall of Fame

Students who win scholarships or are paid for their music services are included in The Barden Academy of Music Hall of Fame. Six students have attained this goal. They are Jacqueline Lee Jones, Kyle Langworthy,Bruce Tippette,Blair Yarborough, Molly Rigg and David Geiger.

Jacqueline Lee Jones won the Mary Perry Beddingfield Scholarship to Meredith College in 2000. She is an accomplished organist and performed "Praeludium in G Major" by J. S. Bach for her audition.

Kyle Langworthy has worked on Broadway South in "Les Miserables" as Denardier at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. This was a leading role in Andrew Lloyd's favorite play. Kyle also took the lead role in Raleigh Little Theater's production of "Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat." Kyle continues to perform in other theatrical performances in the Raleigh area and has been paid for his work.

Bruce William Tippette is the National Federation of Music Club's First Place winner in Composition for 2003. He received this first place national award for his orchestral composition. He was also a runner up in the American College of Musician's International Piano Guild Composition Contest. Bruce received The Music Teaching Fellowes Scholarship to Appalachian State University for 2003. This is a full four year scholarship. In 2005 Bruce published his first piano solo with Alfred Publishing Company.

Blair Yarborough won the local scholarship for Hymn Playing level four in the N.C. Federation of Music Clubs auditions in 2005. Blair won the Raleigh Area Peggy Robinson Matthews Hymn Playing Award for 2004 and was asked to play at UNC-Greensboro for the state award for both scholarships.

Molly Rigg auditioned for the North Carolina School of the Arts Summer Program and was accepted into the Vocal Arts Department. She will spend summer 2005 with the professors there. Molly enjoys her vocal performances and performs often.

David Geiger has joined the well-known Christian Rock Band "Five Smooth Stones" and has recorded with the group. David performs all over with this special Christian Rock Band.

Barden Academy of Music welcomes these fine musicians into the Hall of Fame and wishes them well in their wonderful careers, for music will truly be their best friend.

Fall Semester begins September 6, 2005.

All brochures will be mailed with information about the coming year in late August. If you do not get one, please call the studio at 553-8054. Students should bring a three ring binder notebook with pockets, a TDK-30 videotape cassette, a small cd for recording your showcases and voice students should bring an audio tape. All tapes and cds must be labeled. Also note that their is a new policy this year in that if you are late with your tuition payment please add an extra $10.00 late fee. Tuition for 2005 is $70.00 per month with an added Recital Fee to be submitted by the end of April. Music will be charged to your account.
