Drawing and painting portraits
from photographs is my
specialty. The examples of work shown on these
pages span
many years and represent my favorite projects. Although there
are more favorite projects than photos, those shown here
give an idea of my style.
Baseball
is divided into two parts, the first showing digital paintings created
from videotape taken at my son's youth league games. The
other
baseball pages show portraits painted on baseballs, both youth and
major league, with a magazine article describing my entry into the
world of baseball painting. The baseball page also
includes
links to baseball theme
pen & ink magazine illustrations and porcelain plate paintings,
as
well as other baseball theme projects..
The Portraits
button will lead to a page showing examples of three types of portraits
done from photographs: people, pets and
buildings.
These drawings are done in colored pencil or graphite with a mixed
technique using acrylic color.
The Still
Life drawings page shows work done from life.
Something as
simple as pieces of fruit can be quite compelling! These
drawings
are done in colored pencil with washes of acrylic paint in the
background.
Papier
Mache
boxes are fun to make using masking tape and bristol board.
These
are my own designs. The masking tape creates a wonderful
texture
which is enhanced by a sponge painting technique. The boxes
are
durable and slightly flexible.
