Mountain Park closed in 1987 and the Merry Go round was purchased through fundraising, by the City of Holyoke, and relocated to Heritage State Park in 1993.

The Merry go round has 48 Horses: 16 on the outside row that are stationary and called Standers, 14 middle row horses called Jumpers, and 18 inner row horses which are both Standers and Jumpers, and 2 chariots.

There are 56 original scenic panels, 864 brightly colored lights and 98 beveled mirrors.
