Below is a picture of the plaques that were handed out for scouting excellence in 2002 at the 4th CTC. Note the colors that correspond to the 8 subcamp flag colors used at this Council sponsored Camporee.

RECOGNITION AT CAMPFIRES AND CLOSING

At the Challenge Trophy Camporee, some of the plaques are awarded at the Campfire. These include the subcamp patrol awards, the campsite inspection awards, etc. The remaining plaques are awarded at the Closing, which includes best troops in each subcamp plaques, special program awards, etc. The Subcamp leaders hand out the subcamp plaques. The Youth Camporee Chiefs hand out the recognition plaques to the subcamp leadership teams.
Second last item: The Volunteer In Charge (VIC) hands out the plaques to the youth Camporee Chiefs. At this time, the entire leadership team is front and center. The VIC verbally announces to the attending troops, "this is the entire youth leadership team that ran the camporee program". A round of applause follows. At that time, he or she, should also say that there are opportunities for youth who wish to be on staff next year.
Lastly, the VIC returns the Closing to the Youth Camporee Chiefs and they complete the closing by lowering the flag and dismissing the troops.

Below is a picture of the closing in 2002 at the 4th CTC. You will see an international flavor as Canadian Troops attended this camporee in Western NYS.
Only the youth leadership team is on the stage. Note the 8 colored subcamp flags indicating organizational order of the program and the strong presence of youth leadership as they hand out the awards. To avoid confusion the subcamp were named for colors, not animals or birds. For example, it is easy to find the subcamp H.Q. when the colored flag is on display. The flag is also used at Event Areas and during the Subcamp Chariot Race. This particular camporee was sponsored by Council. The youth successfully ran the program for over 1500 attendees.
