LAURA CAHILL was born February 18, 1906 in Franklin Township, Ross County, Ohio. She died July 23, 1982 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. She was buried on July 27, 1982 in Forest Cemetery, Toledo, Ohio. She was the daughter of JOHN WESLEY CAHILL and VIOLA ("Ola") SIDERS. She married HOWARD FRANKLIN FLOWERS, SR. on April 29, 1922 in Masseyville, Ross County, Ohio. On their marriage license, Laura gave her age as 18 years. Her birth record, however, shows that she was actually only 16 years old.
Howard Franklin Flowers, Sr. was born in Cottageville, near the border of Jackson and Mason County, West Virginia. He died May 20, 1954 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. He was the son of JAMES WILSON FLOWERS and LUVERNA M. STOVER.

JOHN WESLEY CAHILL was born May 19, 1881 in Franklin Township, Ross County, Ohio, and died on June 26, 1909 in Chillicothe, Ross County, Ohio. His death certificate states the cause of death as "blood poisoning, lockjaw, due to infection caused by shaving with poisoned razor blade -- cut by poisoned razor on face." He was the son of ERNEST CAHILL and CATHERINE ("KATE") BOST. He married VIOLA SIDERS on March 14, 1905 in Ross County, Ohio.
VIOLA SIDERS ("Ola") was born November 15, 1881 in Ross County, Ohio, and died on August 5, 1915 in Chillicothe, Ross County, Ohio. She was the daughter of HENRY SIDERS (CYDRUS) and MINERVA HARTLEY.
The 1920 Ross County, Ohio census shows that, following her mother's death, Edith Cahill was residing with the Madden residence. William Madden, age 47, born in Ireland, trade as a civil engineer in a paper mill; wife Anna, aged 54, born in Ohio. Two stepsons and a stepdaughter also listed: Frank Wills, 22, night clerk at hotel; Louis Wills, 20, taxi driver; Elsie Wills, 17.
ERNEST CAHILL was born January 16, 1857 in possibly in Ross County, Ohio? The location has not yet been located with any certainty. He died May 31, 1890 in Franklin Township, Ross County, Ohio. He married CATHERINE ("Kate") BOST about 1877.
Ernest Cahill's cause of death is recorded as "Suicide." Why he took his life is not known. He is buried in Sugar Tree (or Winchell) Cemetery in Ross County. From an unidentified page of Cemetery Inscriptions for Franklin Twp, Ross County, OH / Sugar Tree or Winchell Cemetery: "Descendant Mrs. J. A. Thom stated Earnest Cahill's stone existed in the 1970's: CAHILL Ernest Jan 16, 1857 - May 31 1890 (dates are from death record, Ross Co. OH). The cemetery is said to be in bad condition, and has not been used since the mid 1950s. No doubt time and vandalism have taken their toll on the grave stones.
CATHERINE BOST was born about 1863. The date and place of her death are not presently known. After Ernest's death, Kate married a second time, on August 06, 1899 in Ross County, Ohio. Her second husband was WILLIAM CALDWELL.
The following was found in the 1870 Federal Census for Ross County, Ohio. If the Ernest Cahill listed with this family is Laura Cahill Flowers' father, then we have a good clue for further research. There are a couple of interesting items in this census entry. (1) There is no male head of household listed, which could mean that Mary Cahill is a widow. (2) All the members of the household are listed as being born in Ohio.
