King David, a man after God's own heart, and a Poet!

Just cuz you think it, doesn't make it true...

"For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope" Jeremiah 29:11

I have this friend, and I know he is my friend and that I can trust him. He's never given me a reason not to. But, last week he was having trouble with his telephone, and I could NEVER get through to him. And, these nasty little thoughts started to creep in. Like, "he's avoiding me", and "he really doesn't want to talk to me"! I know where those nasty little thoughts come from. They come from people in my past that were not too kind to me. That is also called "Stinkin' thinkin'!" And, satan is the master of stinkin' thinkin'.

This is an area of my life that God is working on with me. He is asking me "do you trust me"? The question is "do I trust God?" Do I really trust Him with every little detail of my life? Well, not really, not always, but I really want to! God has promised me that He has a future and a hope for me. And, for you too. It's time to start taking Him at his word.

If God says it, I believe it. Yes, I am getting better at this. I broke down and called my friend and he answered the phone and we had a great conversation, and "NO" he was not avoiding me. He's gonna laugh when he reads this!!! :)

It's the old junk that gets in the way. Past hurts that mess us up. That is satan's way of trying to keep us down. Trying to keep you and I from God's perfect will in our lives. Satan is the master of "stinkin' thinkin' "!!

The anecdote for stinkin' thinkin' is positive thinkin'. Every time those nasty little thoughts creep into your head, say a prayer to the one who is the master of positive thinkin'!! After all God has promised you HOPE and an awesome future. And you know He would not lie to you, because, He gave his son to die for you. You can definitely trust Him.

The next time the stinkin' little thoughts start creeping in. Kick them out!! God has a far better plan.

So, what's the dumbest thing you've ever done? Did it make you feel like your race was won? Or did you feel like this was the end And your life should be on the mend

Romans 7:15 For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate.

My Pastor frequently refers to "controlling sin in your life", as "controlling your idiot"! When we do dumb things its because your/my "idiot" is out of control!

To me, that's pretty accurate. Because when I do dumb things, I feel like an idiot. When I say things that hurt the people I love, I feel like an idiot. I do the things I don't want to do. And, the things that I "want" to do, I do not do!

How do I get to where I don't feel like an idiot all the time? How can "I" control my idiot? I can't! But, Jesus can.

Run to Him. Run to Jesus. Hide in His promises. HE is the only one who can control my idiot. I must give my idiot to Jesus daily. Sometimes even minute by minute. "For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not". Romans 7:18

Romans chapter 7 is a very good read on this topic. Paul is very open and blunt about this. Basically saying, that "I" cannot do this. The power of the flesh is too strong for me. Jesus is the only one that can come into my life and make such a difference. Let HIM!

Am I an idiot? Yes, on a pretty regular basis. Do I want to be an idiot? Nope, not a chance! What am I going to do to change things? I am going to stay in His word. I am going to spend time with His people. I am going to spend time with Him in prayer. I am going to fill my mind with things that please Him. Am I ever going to "make it"? No, not on this planet. But, I'm sure gonna walk down His path!

So, where is your idiot? Are you gonna go find him or her as the case be? And, when you find your idiot, what are you gonna do with it?

Don't Miss what is in front of you, for watching what is behind you.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

Twister is one of my favorite movies. In the movie Helen Hunt plays the part of "Jo". Jo's father had been killed in a tornado when she was a little girl. Jo had dedicated her life to learning more about tornadoe's and making it where people could be warned soon enough to get out.

Jo was very dedicated to her work, and her work was a good thing. But, there was one problem. Jo lost sight of everything that was important in the here and now. Jo had her focus totally fixed on the past. So fixed, that she nearly lost the one person in her life that was very important to her, her husband.

Life isn't fair sometimes. Sometimes things happen that just are not fair, and we stand there looking back saying "WHY"! "How could this person do this to me, or how could this happen to me"!!! We cannot forgive, we cannot move on.

When we focus on our past it leaves us stuck. Stuck in the past because we can't forgive the person who hurt us, or we can't accept the fact that someone has died or a life we once had is gone. A job, a car, or our kids grew up and moved on.

Focusing on the past is like watching the tornado coming closer and closer and never moving out of the way. Never shifting our focus to get out of the way. Focusing on the past, will pick you up, it will destroy you sooner or later. By focusing on the tornado, the past, you risk losing what is right in front of you! Maybe its a special person, a job, your grandkids, or a life God has for you.

What tornado are you focusing on? Are you going to let it suck you up and toss you aside?? Are you going to let the past destroy you? Or are you going to step aside, and focus on Jesus. Forget about the past, it is gone, it is done, and it is over. Tomorrow is a blank sheet of paper. What are you going to write on it?

"I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.." Phillipians 4:13 NASB

Nothing happens unless first a dream.

Carl Sandburg (1878-1967) Poet

A dream, a small thought at the back of your mind, a desire for a way of life, a job you would like to have, or who you want to be. Only a small thought unless you add prayer and action!!!

What is your dream, what is your goal in life?? If your dream is to write, but you do not write, then your dream is not to write. If your dream is to sing, but you do not sing, then your dream is not to sing!! If your dream is to preach, but you do not preach, your dream is to be silent!

A dream without action is just a thought! A dream with action can move mountains!!! A dream with prayer, puts God behind it, and that is the Brooklyn Tabernacle! A fledgling church in the heart of Brooklyn, with only 20 members, and someone stealing money! Add Prayer and Action and today their building seats 4,000!!! With several services on Sunday! WOW!! God moved in a mighty way and continues to do so!

What is your dream? What are you doing about it? Get up out of your chair! Put on your shoes, and as Dr. Tony Evans has said, "Say Amen and Start Walkin"!! Make your dream a reality. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you!!

Pray, pray your heart out to Jesus. Then, roll up your sleeves!! Take action! And, prepare to be amazed!!

The world may not know! But, God knows, and I know!

But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. 2Cronichles 4:2

I have this pot roast in my refrigerator. It is sitting there in a covered casserole dish...It has been there for a long time, I have no idea how long!! I have cleaned the refrigerator around it. Wiped the shelves and walls around it, but I have not removed that pot roast. That roast does not look bad from a distance, but, I know that when I take the lid off of the casserole dish, its really gonna stink!

That is like sin in our lives. They sit there very neatly on the shelf. Through the lid they look like they are not too bad, kind of nice actually! Most people can look in at that casserole dish and have no idea it smells that bad. Its like our own little private mess. But, in reality that sin really stinks! Day by day the stench is geting worse and worse.

Once we open up the lid on the pot that sin sits in. Yeah its gonna stink a lot. But, Jesus is the soap that will clean up that casserole dish of sin! Will you let him?
