John Atwood was a farmer. Shutliff says, "He was born in the Parish of
Gutton", and claims "in the year 1630, John Wood was a farmer and lived on
Essex Street, Lynn, Massachusetts. This village where he dwelt, was ever since
called Wood End."
He was a twin to Derrick. He settled in Plymouth in 1643. A leather seller in
London, he sued his eldest brother, Harman, for lands their father had settled
on their youngest brother Richard. Later he lived in Lynn, Massachusets.
